Behind the Chutes
Description:

This documentary follows several professional bareback riders on the rodeo circuit in their quest for "Gold" (gold buckle) and to quench their desire for the sport.

This isn't a high priced sport where the competitors are earning millions of dollars. On the contrary, this is a sport where the athlete travels great distances at his own expense, pays to enter, and he isn't guaranteed anything but eight seconds and a chance to display his abilities.

There are long drives from state to state. The hazards on the road can be as great as those in the arena. Braving blizzards in the winter, thunderstorms in the south, and thousands of miles of monotonous roads. It also means a lot of miles and expenses... gas, food, motels, clothing, truck repairs, entry fees, and rodeo gear ... are deducted from your winnings.

There is no workman's compensation in this industry. If you don't ride, you don't earn any money. It is not uncommon for these cowboys to ride in great pain to fulfill a commitment to compete. Miss a rodeo? Not if they can help it.

But why? What is it about these men that make them want to devote so much of their life to an eight second ride? And what is it about the ride that creates such an addictive passion? And what makes a man, years later, get that sparkle in his eye when he reminisces about his rodeo days? Why do you put it all on the line for eight seconds?

Belly Full of Bedsprings, The History of Bronc Riding
Description:

Ever since the first wild horse was lassoed and tamed, there has been continuous debate about which rider rode longest and which horse bucked the best. The tradition goes back 150 years, when the earliest competitions were scattered across the western United States, at Fourth of July celebrations and later on during trail drives to northern markets, Bronc riding is a thriving sport today, but now its home is in the arena of professional rodeo.

Belly Full of Bedsprings traces the history of bronc riding, and its evolution into a sport, from those early days in the American West to the current pro-rodeo circuit. Woerner examines the development of rodeo competition and the changes that have evolved specifically in the bronc riding event: the move from open corrals to chutes, the development of the ideal saddle, the introduction of bareback riding, changes in timing and judging events, increasing purses and sponsorship, the organization of unions, providing safety gear, and bringing the cowboy into the twenty-first century with computer technology. Interspersed are tales to evoke laughter and tears, including the incredible (but hilarious) transportation problems early riders had, as well as the tragic injuries incurred by both horses and cowboys.

Selected broncbusters and broncs of each decade in the twentieth century are covered, highlighted by action packed photos throughout. Complete statistics of competitions are included in an appendix.

Cowboy Up, The History of Bull Riding
Description:

What started as an exhibition to entertain audiences has turned into the most popular-and dangerous-event in rodeo: bull riding. When a 150-pound man attempts to ride a two-ton bull with a killer instinct, it’s not a matter of whether the rider will get injured, but when, and how badly. As cowboy Jim Shoulders says, “You can’t stop something like an injury from hurtin’, but you can damn well not let it bother you. “ What motivates riders to devote themselves to this challenging sport?

Find out in Austinite Gail Woener’s newest book, which covers bull riding from its beginning into the new millennium.

D & H Cattle Company
Description:

Dillon & H. D. Page
1197 Ponderosa Rd
Ardmore, OK,
Office: Johna Page Bland 580-504-4723

5X PBR Stock Contractor of the Year
Bulls are the business at D&H Cattle Company and the business is good.

Dillon and HD Page run D&H Cattle Co on 1500 acres that has been in the Page Family for nearly six generations. The ranch is located on the banks of the Washita River just North of the small Oklahoma town of Dickson.

Nearly 30 years ago Dillon purchased his first set of bulls. Being a former bull rider, he knew what he was looking for. He sold that first set around 1977.

Then in 1985 in a pursuit to provide practice stock for HD, he once again entered the "Bred to Buck" business, by purchasing his first set of bucking heifers from Larry Kephart that went back to the original Charlie Plummer bloodlines. He purchased a trailer load of the ladies and paid $1.00 per pound. Dillon and HD have developed what many consider to be one of the top bucking bull breeding programs in the world.

Dillon started breeding his bulls to his commercial cows and the Kephart set. This lead to him raising his own bulls. Along with buying new bulls whenever he came across them, the bulls wearing the Rocking P brand began showing up at rodeos and bull ridings all across North Texas and Southern Oklahoma.

Since the mid 90's this father and son team have been supplying top notch bucking bulls to the PBR events all across North America. The first PBR Finals they attended, they sent two bulls - this number has steadily increased each year. At the 2001 PBR Bud Light Cup World Championships, the father-son duo sent 10 bulls to Las Vegas alone. That does not include the bulls raised and sold to other contractors that also qualified. In 2001 and 2002 the years of hard work and dedication finally paid off. The duo was named the 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005 & most recently 2006 PBR Stock Contractors of the year.

Each year the calf crop gets bigger and better. Over many years, D&H Cattle Co. has filled PBR events and Championship Rounds with awesome athletes such as Fandango, Cool Hand, Coppertop, Sauce, Copperhead, Junior, Gusto, Little Joe, Navajo, Romeo, French Fry, Bo Time, Rough Water, Milo, Judgement Day, Best Shot, Deadwood aka "Holy Moly", Night Moves, Stretch, Dobber, Lefty and Double Shot. The four megastars that are the spotlight are Mossy Oak Mudslinger, Crossfire Hurricane, Western Wishes and the late Hotel California.

They have also become very successful in the Futurity and Classic industry with bulls like Sports Machine, Sunshine, Big Deal, Stray Kitty, Pop a Top, Copperfox, Hurricane Harry, Best Western and Lil' Slinger.

D&H is busy traveling and promoting their bulls in the PBR and in Futurity and Classics while also improving their genetics and breeding program. Watch for these amazing bulls on OLN TV in the PBR events and coming soon to a venue near you. Check out the Calendar of Events for our upcoming schedule.

Fearless Funnymen, The History of Rodeo Clowns
Description:

Author Gail Woerner used her life-long association with the rodeo world to research and write a history of this paradoxical profession that requires a laugh-getter dressed in baggy britches and wearing a clown face to put his life in jeopardy to protect cowboys from the dangerous Brahma bulls, and sometimes death.

All aspects of the world of the rodeo clown are included -- how the profession began, comedy acts created by the rodeo clowns, the animals they trained so masterfully, the evolution of the profession. Other aspects include bullfighting, development of the barrel, injuries which are a part of the job, frustrations in organizing, a cowboy clown's role in the world of rodeo, how sponsors changed the profession, how specialized the bullfighter has become and today's fearless funnymen.

Information has been gathered from hundreds of rodeo clowns, bullfighters and barrelmen, plus interviews with wives, sons and daughters, friends and co-workers. Included are more than 700 rodeo clowns, their hometowns along with the years of performance. Other information includes honors and awards given these hilarious risk-taking heroes.

ILTORO - Extreme Trainer
Description:

Il Toro began over 26 years ago and made its debut at a Sankey Rodeo School in Abbyville, Kansas. The first unit was nothing more than a 55 gallon metal drum set in a rack which rocked back and forth by someone raising and lowering a handle. This unit was the first of its kind and led to the next innovation which had springs attached to the frame at the front and back of the body. The springs allowed the unit to rock back and forth with little to no assistance from anyone other than the rider. As well as this unit worked, it was basic in design, bulky, and heavy.

The new Il Toro, patent pending, is designed with the rider in mind and has come a long way from those rudimentary beginnings. Il Toro now has the shape of a real bull and is built to scale. It still has the ability to move back and forth, but also rolls from side to side as well, simulating the action of a bucking bull. Il Toro is equipped with our patented spur pads which allow the rider to use spurs while training. It is the only training unit designed for riders to practice with all of their gear. Finally, Il Toro comes with its own permanent stand, or you can choose an upgrade to a portable X-Frame that you can select when ordering.

With every Il Toro unit sold the buyer will receive a DVD that will give the user some insights on how and what to practice. Remember, Il Toro has been designed to give its users an advantage in competition by allowing the rider to engage every part of his mental & physical abilities when practicing. The DVD will give some insights on the basics of bull riding and lay a foundation to build on for your training sessions. Each session should be productive and with a purpose in mind, so Il Toro remains an asset to your career and not become a toy that you play bull rider with.

There are three kinds of people out there; those who make things happen, those who watch things happen, and those who wonder what happened. Il Toro will put you in the first category.

At the conclusion of that summer, Perry's Pyros first year in business, the Bullriders of America (BOA) hired them to provide the pyrotechnics for the 2001 BOA Finals.

In 2002, Perry's Pyros was hired to become the exclusive provider of pyrotechnics for the Extreme Bullriding Tour, presented by White Buffalo Productions (6x Producer of the Year) and Double "S" Bull Company (5x Stock Contractor of the Year). After working several shows for Outlaw Rodeo Productions (2002 BOA Producer of the Year) in the past, 2004 marked the first year that Perry's Pyros was hired on to provide all the special effects to their Midwest Swing Tour.

Perry's Pyros has done the BOA Finals every year since 2001 and was hired to do the National Federation of Professional Bullriders (NFPB) Finals for the first time in 2005. Perry's Pyros also provided pyrotechnics to the Missouri Rodeo Cowboys Association (MRCA) Finals and the Iowa Rodeo Association (IRA) Finals in 2004.

In addition to doing numerous association finals and working with award winning producers and stock contractors, Waylon Perry (owner) is a Snowbull board member. With the help of Perry's Pyros Snowbull (Burlington, IA) has been named BOA Event of the Year 6 times, becoming the most decorated and award winning event in BOA history.

Perry's Pyros has been a member of the Rodeo Attitude Program since 2001. Since then they have gained the full endorsement of the program.

ROPE TO WIN The History of Steer, Calf, and, Team Roping By Gail Hughbanks Woerner
Description:

The most important tool for a cowboy is a rope. What he has done with it in the last 200 years is amazing. The evolution of the cowboy from taking care of cattle on the range to his competitive, top-level professional roping is all covered here.

Why did calf roping replace steer roping? What kind of rope is best for each roping event? Since ranch cowboys have been team roping forever, why has it just become so popular? What makes a good roping horse? The answers to these questions and many more are in these pages, as are the stories and lives of ropers, and some of their mounts, from every era. As J. Frank Dobie once said, “Facts are stubborn things.”—but they do make a good read!

Prices:
Hard Copy - $34.95 plus $3.00 mailing and handling - Available 01/07
Soft Copy - $26.95 plus $3.00 mailing and handling - Available NOW

Turn and Burn - Inside the World of Barrel Racing
Description:

When youre running against the clock, you gotta put everything on the line.

Holly Foster, Sherry Cervi, Lita Scott, Lyndee Stairs, Liz Pinkston, Danyelle Campbell, Rachael Ross, Rachelle Maloney, Debbie Langston, Christy Burleson, Dude Overton, Dottie Lautarel, Jolee Lautarel, Molly Powell, Tammy Key, Jackie Dube, Chris Azevedo, Tanya Randall, Pam Minick, Shali Lord, Jerri Mann Award-Winning Filmmaker tackles the inside world of Barrel Racing

Calabasas, CA. . In the rodeo world, its the second most anticipated event behind bull riding. In America, its arguably the most popular womens sport. Its that rare event where mostly ladies compete, a blend of beauty and grace, speed and control, horse and rider. Its Barrel Racing.

Documentary Producer / Director David Wittkower, whose previous film, Cowboy Up: Inside the Extreme World of Bull Riding which won 8 film festival awards for excellence in sports programming and directing, turns the cameras to the long over due subject of Barrel Racing. Turn & Burn interviews many NFR riders including Sherry Cervi, Linda Vick, Shali Lord, Liz Pinkston, Tammy Key, Jackie Dube, Lita Scott, Lyndee Stairs to name a few.

To my knowledge, this is the only film that truly gives people a real idea of what happens in the barrel racing world. Its certainly not a training video. Wittkower said. Turn & Burn reveals life after the show is over and the long hauls begin. Access to life with their horses, raising their children, making the money, all this with a race against the clock to win the purse or just move on to the next rodeo.

The plan is to show the sporting world the sport of Barrel Racing, a sport that is often underestimated in the rodeo world. With Cowboy Up, Wittkower focused about all the aspects of bull riding. Actor Luke Perry of 90210, and star of the film 8 Seconds narrated.

Wittkower and his co-producer, Fred Martin interviewed barrel racers and attended the Salinas Rodeo in California, the 4D Finals in Reno, Ellensburg Rodeo in Washington state and other events close to California where the film maker is based, due to the budget.

The video runs 65 minutes with added bonus footage of straight barrel racing with audio commentary plus a 2 minute music video montage.

Two Bulls Pro-Formance Feeds
Description:

TwoBulls Pro-Formance Feeds started in 2001 as a result of our needing a performance feed for our Bucking and Breeding program which was started in 1996 with 8 weanling heifers and 2 bred cows from Ronnie Roach at the Rafter 7r.
The industry had come a long ways in those few years and instead of just breeding bulls to buck at Rodeos and Bullridings, there was now the opportunity to breed for competition.

My partner Brent Bullard (4B Performance Cattle) one of the leading Jockeys in the horse racing industry before retiring stated that if Bulls were going to compete, then they had to be fed like athletes and trained like athletes if they were going to win. Just as they had with the Race Horses. Visit our website for more info...
