Champs Return to CNFR to Defend Titles
[May 27, 2009] CASPER, Wyo.--- Men’s all-around champion Wyatt Altoff will be one of several contestants at the 61st annual College National Finals Rodeo (CNFR) trying for a repeat victory.

Altoff won the men’s all-around in 2008 competing for New Mexico State University (NMSU) in tie-down roping and team roping. He is a senior majoring in Ag Business. This is Altoff’s fourth CNFR qualification and his last year of eligibility in the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association (NIRA), so winning this year’s title would be very rewarding. The Oracle, Ariz., resident plans on moving up the rodeo ranks into the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association and hopes to qualify for the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo one day.
 
Yellow Jacket rodeo team bucks into 2nd place
[Apr. 28, 2009] SPEARFISH -- The Black Hills State rodeo team is in a position it has not been in decades - it is sitting in second place within the region and in a good position to qualify for the College National Finals Rodeo.
 
COLLEGE RODEO ALUMNI SET ANNUAL REUNION
[Apr. 27, 2009] SPECIAL GUESTS WILL BE COLLEGE COWBOYS FROM 1949
The National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association Alumni will have their 18th Annual Reunion June 19 and 20, 2009 at the College National Finals Rodeo in Casper, Wyoming. The reunion will be held at the Parkway Plaza Hotel in Casper and the rodeo takes place at the Casper Events Center.

 

The reunion is an opportunity to meet old friends and enjoy a great rodeo. Activities include a hospitality room, meetings and introductions, and an awards luncheon. By Sharon Adams, NIRAA
 
Minor sets pace at college rodeo
[Apr. 25, 2009] ELLENSBURG — Bailey Minor wasn’t up for much talking. Her work in the arena had already said it all.

“I always go in to win,” Minor said with a shrug. “I just felt good. It was a pretty good day.”
 
Mesalands rodeo team places second at Navajo

The Mesalands Community College Men’s Rodeo Team placed second place at the Navajo Technical College rodeo in Crownpoint, April10-11. The Mesalands Women’s Team finished in fifth place.
 
Jacks fare well in own rodeo
[Apr. 9, 2009] The SDSU Jackrabbits started the spring rodeo season in fine fashion, as the women picked up a second and first in the team portions of the Jackrabbit Stampede Rodeo in Brookings last weekend. The men also had a good showing, placing second and third in the two rodeos.
 
Bacone, Connors students place at rodeo competition in Weatherford
[Apr. 9, 2009] Rodeo coach Wes Marrel of Bacone College reports that students from Bacone College and Connors State College placed at the Panhandle State University’s National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association (NIRA) rodeo in Guymon this past weekend. Jake Morgan (Bacone) scored a 10.2 in calf roping in the first round and came back with a 12.6 in the short round, placing him fourth in the average with a 22.8.
 
2009 College National Finals Rodeo Dates Set
[Mar. 3, 2009] The nation’s best college cowboys and cowgirls from eleven different regions will enter the College National Finals Rodeo (CNFR) arena at this June in Casper, Wyo.

The 61st Annual event will begin June 14 and run through June 20. National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association (NIRA) members will compete for national titles in saddle bronc, bareback, bull riding, steer wrestling, calf roping, team roping, barrel racing, breakaway roping, and goat tying. In addition men’s and women’s team and all-around champions will be determined. By Susan Kanode
 
Jacob Williams signs with NWOSU Rodeo Team
[Feb. 6, 2009] Alva High School senior Jacob Williams signed a letter of intent to become a member of the rodeo team in the fall at Northwestern Oklahoma State University.
