CHEYENNE, Wyo. --- The first of two rounds of barrel racing is complete at the Cheyenne Frontier Days Rodeo, even though the actual performances don’t start until Saturday.

The first round was completed in slack to accommodate all 109 barrel racers. Then to keep the ground condition even and the performances fast-paced, 24 of those contestants also made their second round run as well.

Tiffany Fox,first Wrangler National Finals Rodeo qualification for Tiffany Fox. from Fox, Okla., finished at the top of the leader board in the first round. Her run of 17.40 was over two-tenths of a second faster than that of Sabra O’Quinn from Ocala, Fla., who stopped the clock in 17.62. Fox earned $4,372 for the effort which will certainly help her in her quest for a second Wrangler National Finals Rodeo qualification. Fox is currently in sixth place in the world standings. She will be back in Cheyenne for her second run during the fifth performance Wednesday, July 22 starting at 1 p.m.

Action continues at Frontier Park on Wednesday, July 15 with tie-down roping and team roping slack. In order to better accommodate rodeo contestants all of the roping events along with steer wrestling, bareback riding, saddle bronc riding and bull riding will be held back-to-back. Contestants will have their first round one day and the second round the next day. This will help to get to other rodeos held during the same time as Cheyenne Frontier Days.

“Back-to-back really helps us as contestants,” said Trevor Brazile, six-time all-around world champion. “I can come to Cheyenne, make all my runs in two days, go to a bunch of other rodeos and hopefully be back for the finals.” Brazile will compete in tie-down, team and steer roping on Monday and Tuesday, July 20-21.
