KAYCEE, Wyo. -- The 21st annual Deke Latham Memorial PRCA Rodeo, which draws some of the top cowboys in the world standings, will be held here July 20-22 at the Harold Jarrard Park.
The rodeo honors the memory of Kaycee saddle bronc champion Deke Latham, who died in 1986.
This year's rodeo will feature several new events, including chicken roping competitions for kids and adults, and a cow dog exposition. A rookie bronc-riding competition is scheduled during the PRCA steer roping slack Friday night, and the rodeo's traditional parade, downtown street dance and barbecue are on slate for Saturday.
Saturday's rodeo performance begins at 7 p.m. Sunday's begins at 2 p.m.
Motel space in Kaycee is limited, but the town campground will be open to accommodate visitors.
Sponsorship for rodeo events is being sought. For more information, contact Bonnie Gould at (307) 738-2389.
