FORT WORTH ---Bull rider Corey Navarre came, saw, and conquered Tuesday night's Bulls Night Out performance at the Will Rogers Coliseum, kicking off the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association portion of the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo.
The Weatherford, Okla., cowboy set the bar high at the beginning of the competition receiving 89.5 points on Silverado Rodeo Company's bull Big Stud.
"He felt really good underneath me, I knew I had a good ride" Navarre said.
The top twelve moved into the final round with Navarre last to ride. Eleven rides and eleven buck offs, Navarre sat down on his bull knowing he had already claimed the title but he wanted to have that qualified ride.
"I knew I had won, but I wanted to finish strong, that final bull just beat me out," said Navarre.
The winner is determined by the highest score on two bulls. However, since no one rode in the final round, Navarre earned the title with his first round ride.
Navarre is currently splitting the aggregate at the National Western Stock Show in Denver and is scheduled to compete at the Fort Worth Stock Show Rodeo February 3rd.
Forty more bull riders are scheduled for the second performance of Bull's Night, Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m.
