DUNCAN, Okla. – An Oklahoman and a Texan met near the Red River over the weekend and walked away with the title during the Professional Bullfighters Daisy Protection Bullfight Tour competition that was part of the TwoBulls Challenge.

Fittingly, it was Team TwoBulls that came out on top. Chad Dowdy of Bristow, Okla., joined forces with Jordan Lee of Weatherford, Texas, to win the average championship and proving their ability in a pen full of the best bullfighters in the world at the Stephens County Expo Center.

Dowdy and Lee didn’t win either round, but their weekend total gave them the advantage over Team Daisy, Andy Burelle of Ardmore, Okla., and Brian Flanders of Amarillo, Texas. Burelle is coming off his 2008 world title, when he teamed with Dusty Tuckness of Meeteetse, Wyo., to win the PBF’s Daisy Protection Bullfight championship.

Flanders, though, stepped up in the competition and was named the event’s Daisy Take Aim at Safety Most Valuable Player.

On Friday night, the team Duncan Builders Supply – Steve Wangler, Plainview, Neb./Kevin Pitts, Burleson, Texas – matched scores with Team Timber Ridge Belgians – Dave Jantzi, Sugar Creek, Ohio/Toby Inman, Davis Junction, Ill. – to win the opening go-round. Dowdy and Lee finished fourth.

The second round is where the top two teams in the average shined. Team Daisy (Burelle/Flanders) won the round, followed by Team TwoBulls (Dowdy/Lee). That was enough to push them past the rest of the competition.
