Bull rider Aron Beverly, 20, of Tipp City, Ohio died on Saturday, December 2, when his 2003 Ford pickup truck went over a guardrail on southbound Interstate 75 in Moraine, Ohio, and dropped onto Arbor Boulevard. According to police records they were dispatched at 5:30 PM.
Aron’s girlfriend, Chassity Rinderle, 19, of Rossburg, Ohio, who was the front-seat passenger, was taken to Miami Valley Hospital, where she underwent surgery. On Sunday her condition was listed as fair.
Another bull rider, Tim Zellers, 22, of Laura, was also a passenger. He, was able to walk around before being taken to the hospital where he was treated and released.
According to police it is believed Beverly was driving at a high speed on southbound I-75 he was trying to switch lanes when his truck struck another vehicle, causing him to lose control and hit the guardrail, Police Sgt. Russ Imler said, the truck then flew off the interstate and dropped 22 feet to Arbor Boulevard. The front of the truck hit first before it flipped, Imler said. Eyewitness reports claim that the vehicle was seen weaving through traffic at high speed prior to the accident. There is no evidence that alcohol was a factor although no one in the truck was wearing seat belts and the officers at the scene stated that had they been wearing them could have made a difference in the outcome of the crash. It was reported the two men were on their way to a rodeo when the accident occurred.
Richard Ahmadi, 22, of Englewood, was the driver of the car that Beverly's truck hit. Monday night, he said he did not seek medical attention after the incident and did not want to comment about the wreck.
The accident closed Interstate 75 South and Arbor until about 9:30 p.m.
Please remember Arons family and friends in your prayers and pray for a speedy recovery for Chassity.
