Winston-Salem, N.C. (February 6, 2010) - Austin Meier (Kinta, OKla.) continued his hot streak in Winston-Salem with the overall event win. In Round 2, Meier rode SkyHawk Cut-a-Rug (Jeff Robinson/Pinnacle Bull Group) for 88.5 points and second place. In the short-go, he took third place, staying on Lone Star (Robinson/Hagen Bucking Bulls) for 89.75 points. Overall, Austin took home $39,205 for the whole weekend and is currently ranked #3 in the world.
Brazilian Renato Nunes (Buritama, SP, Brazil) had an impressive weekend, winning both Round 2 and Round 3. In Round 2, he rode Flashpoint (Teague Bucking Bulls, LLC) for 89.25 points. Round 3 gave him the highest score of the weekend, 90.5points, on RMEF Bugle (Robinson/Perry Bucking Bulls). Nunes placed second in the overall event standings, coming in right behind Meier, and adding $18,752.50 to his bank account.
Only two other cowboys managed to make the buzzer in the championship round other than Meier and Nunes. Beau Hill (West Glacier, Mont.) received the first 90-point ride of the evening after he stayed on Chicken on a Chain (Robinson/Tedesco/Larry the Cable Guy) for 90 points. Current #7 in the BFTS World Standings, Skeeter Kingsolver (Mclouth, Kans.) was the fourth rider to stay on in the short-go, riding Fat Lip (Circle T Ranch & Rodeo) for 84.75 points.
J.B. Mauney (Mooresville, N.C.) attempted to wow his hometown crowd with a draft pick of Code Blue. He almost made 8 seconds, but the official review from the judges stated that he didn’t make the buzzer. Also, young rider Stormy Wing’s wreck on Cajun Blast (Circle T Ranch & Rodeo) brought the arena to complete silence as he was carried out on a backboard. Wing received a concussion and is questionable to compete in next week’s event in Oklahoma City.
McDonald (Col. Juarez, Mexico) and McKennon Wimberly (Cool, Texas) tied for third and fourth in Round 2. McDonald stayed on Outa Da Blue, owned by Circle T Ranch & Rodeo, while Wimberly made the buzzer on Jerome Davis Bucking Bulls’ Off the Hook, both rides getting a score of 88 points. In another tie, this time for 5th and 6th places, was Cody Ford (Stanfield, Ore.) and Stormy Wing (Dalhart, Texas). Ford rode Teague Bucking Bulls, LLC’s Rusty Zipper and Wing stayed on Lucky Toad (Jerome Davis Bucking Bulls) for 87.75 points each.

INJURY REPORT:
Dustin Elliot had a concussion after a wreck in Round 1. He did not participate in the second day of competition in Winston-Salem, but is probable for next week in Oklahoma City.
Stormy Wing has a concussion after a wreck in Round 3 and is questionable for competition in Oklahoma City next weekend.
Ben Jones injured his neck. He will get x-rays early next week and is questionable to compete in Oklahoma City.
Wiley Petersen tore his left ACL after his ride on Rapid Reaction (Jeff Robinson Bucking Bulls) in Round 2. He will get an MRI on Monday. Petersen is out for an undetermined length of time.

Austin Meier (Kinta, Okla.) was in the lead going into the Built Ford Tough Championship Round and won the Winston-Salem Invitational presented by Troy-Built; therefore, he collected the $10,000 bonus. The bonus will return to $5,000 in Oklahoma City next week. The bonus grows by $5,000 each week if it is not claimed. Once claimed, it returns to $5,000.
