The Professional Bull Riders, Inc. (PBR) took the driver’s seat at the Charlotte Bobcats Arena for the Dale Jr. PBR Clash on January 26-28. The fifth stop on the elite Built Ford Tough Series presented by Wrangler (BFTS) was won by Brazilian sensation, Silvanei Dias. The three day event was the inaugural event for the Dale Jr. Clash and the first tour win for Dias. Dias was very excited with his first win but so was event namesake, Dale Earnhardt Jr, who praised the support and excitement fans showed the PBR this weekend in Charlotte. "I really like bull riding and have a lot of friends in the sport. The way I knew to be involved was to have an event in Charlotte. I'm really glad so many fans came to my event."
Justin McBride won round one with with a 90 point trip aboard Berger/Struve's Evil Forces. Good friend, Matt Bohon, took second with 89 point ride on Boyd/Floyd/Paradise Farms' Jeopardy. Rodeo Attitude member, JB Mauney tied with Mike White for third with a 88.75 score. JB Mauney and fellow travel partner, Brian Canter are enjoying the "hometown status" at this event. Our newest members Davis Rodeo, owned by Jerome and his wife, Tiffany, are one of the top breeders of bucking bulls on the East Coast and had several bulls at this event. Jerome is also the mendor to both JB Mauney and Brian Canter. Both of these young men started their bull riding carreers in the Southern Extreme Bullriding Association (SEBRA) another association member co-owned by Tom Smith, our Eastern Regional Director, and Chan Canter, aunt to Brian. The PBR is also an association member of the Rodeo Attitude Program.
Round two was won by Cody Hart. Mike Lee received a hard blow to the head in round two and was removed from the arena on a stretcher. He was diagnosed with a brain concussion. In round three it was Cord McCoy on Chain Reaction with an 88.75 for the round 3 win. The championship round went to Silvanei Dias on Best Western for 88.25.
