Mike White took on the bull, God's Gift, owned by Chad Berger and Clay Struve

NEW YORK, N.Y. (January 9, 2009) - The 2009 Built Ford Tough Invitational brought the best bull riders in the world to The World’s Most Famous Arena, Madison Square Garden, for the second event of the 2009 season. PBR veteran Mike White (De Kalb, Texas) took on the bull, God's Gift, owned by Chad Berger and Clay Struve, for a lucrative 88.25 points - a likely welcomed rematch after White drew the bull twice in the 2008 season, though he was unable to receive a score until now. He collected a check for $7,000.

Second and third place for the evening went to Zack Brown (Santa Fe, Texas) and Cody Campbell (Summerville, Ore.) who each received scored of 87.75 points. Brown took on Chad Berger/Jim Quintaine’s bull, Blue Boy, while alternate Campbell made his presence known by covering Chad Berger/Jim Quintaine’s North Dakota Kid. Rounding out fourth place was 2008 PBR Daisy Rookie of the Year Reese Cates (Carthage, Texas) who took on Williams/Roth’s top animal Countersink for 87.25 points.

Due to his round two win at last weekend’s Baltimore Invitational, PBR veteran Brian Herman (Victoria, Texas) was eligible to compete for the $5,000 Enterprise Rent-A-Car “Ride with the Best” bonus during round one of the Built Ford Tough Invitational. Because of his qualified ride on the bull, Cooper, owned by Chad Berger/Clay Struve/Julie Rosen, Herman was awarded the $5,000 bonus. As the winner of round one, Mike White (De Kalb, Texas) will be eligible for the $5,000 bonus during round two of the competition.

Tomorrow the top 45 bull riders will draft their round two bull at New York’s Hawaiian Tropic. Round winner White will pick first while the other 44 bull riders pick follow in succession based on their round one scores. After all of the riders who received scores have selected their bulls, the riders will select their bulls based on their buck-off times with the quickest buck-off time picking last.

The Built Ford Tough Invitational continues tomorrow as the world’s best bull riders compete in round two. Tune-in to VERSUS at 8:00 p.m. EST on Saturday, January 10 where the round will air LIVE and on Sunday, January 11 at 8:00 p.m. EST on VERSUS.
