LAS VEGAS - Former Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association world champion bull rider Mike White is now enjoying success in the team roping arena.

White, from DeKalb, Texas competed in the Priefert #11 division at the World Series of Team Roping with his wife Hannah. Hannah put a nice loop on the horns and Mike came right behind her catching two feet and stopping the clock in 7.83 seconds. This was the fourth fastest time in the first rotation and was good for $4,000. Dustin Wager from Elizabeth, Colo., and Scot Wheatley from Calhan had the fastest time of 6.86 in the rotation and won $7,000.

Winning the second rotation was Cedar Spear, Yuba City, Ariz., and Grant Strong, from Colfax, Calif. They stopped the clock in 7.74 seconds. The third rotation went to Dave Williams from Ord, Neb., and Jim Brinkman, from Ericson, Neb., with a 7.31-second run. Each team won $7,000.

In the consolation round it was a duo from Tennessee that earned the $5,000 check for the fastest time. John Johnson from Piney Flats and Jordan Southern from Sneedville had a 7.04 second run.

The Grand Finale will feature the 15 teams that had the fastest total times on three head in the preliminary competition in each division.

Nearly $3 million will be paid to contestants during the Thunder EquiGames Grand Finale on Saturday beginning at 1 p.m. Along with the best of the team ropers, the fastest times from the Charmayne James Invitational Barrel Race, the World Series of Mounted Shooting and the Rob Smets Bullfight will be featured. Legendary rodeo announcer Bob Tallman will be calling the action.
