Leads Change at Reno Rodeo
[Jun. 25, 2009] There are new leaders in the over-all standings in bareback riding, steer wrestling and saddle bronc riding. A young bronc rider from North Dakota is looking for his first pair of Reno Rodeo championship spurs. Dusty Hausauer from Dickinson has a total of 169 points on two head. This is three points ahead of Justin Arnold, from Santa Margarita, Calif. Chad Ferley, who won the Reno Rodeo in 2006 en route to the saddle bronc world title has moved into fifth place with 162 points.
 
Buddy System Works Well for Reno Rodeo Contestants
[Jun. 24, 2009] One thing that sets rodeo apart from other sports is the camaraderie among contestants. They travel together, help each other and in spite of competing against each other, are often very good friends.
 
Reigning World Champion Dominates Reno Rodeo
[Jun. 23, 2009] He put himself much closer to that with an outstanding ride at the Reno Rodeo on Monday night. McDaniel had a solid score of 79 in his first appearance on Sunday night. He came back and rode his horse for 84 points Monday to take the lead in the second round and over-all standings. His ride came aboard Sundowner of the Flying U Rodeo Company.
 
Barrel racers storm leaderboard at Reno
[Jun. 22, 2009] Sue Smith of Blackfoot, Idaho, turned in the second-fastest time of the 90th Annual Reno Rodeo – a 17.01 – to move to second in the second round and second overall average behind defending world champion Lindsay Sears.
 
Bronc Rider Shortage
[Jun. 22, 2009] Bareback bronc riding is one of the three rough stock events out at the rodeo.The other two events are saddle bronc, and bull riding.
Bareback riding is popular with the fans, but because of a myriad of reason, its not as popular with rough stock riders. We talked to stock contractor Cotton Rosser, a former rodeo man himself, who says he's not surprised about the shortage of bareback riders. By Terri Russell

Krystal Jones Wins First Charmayne James Invitational Barrel Race
[Dec. 17, 2008] Krystal Jones almost didn’t compete at the Charmayne James Invitational Barrel Race held last Saturday at the South Point Equestrian and Events Center.

She's glad she did. Jones won the brand-new event with a total time of 30.675 seconds, $15,000 and a $20,000 Bloomer horse trailer. She and Andrea Cline-Herron had both decided to enter so they could make the 1,500 mile drive together, share the expenses and the workload. The morning of the barrel race, Cline-Herron went out to feed and discovered her horse had a swollen knee, so she wouldn't be able to compete. By Susan Kanode, Thunder EquiGames
 
World Champions crowned at 50th Wrangler National Finals Rodeo
[Dec. 14, 2008] The final Saturday of the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo is always the most special day in ProRodeo, and that was certainly the case at the 50th anniversary event. Gold buckle dreams were realized by a select group of PRCA contestants in front of 17,879 at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas. Justin McDaniel, Luke Branquinho, Matt Sherwood, Randon Adams, Cody Wright, Stran Smith, Lindsay Sears and J.W. Harris all earned the title of World Champion, a feat they will never forget. Wright clinches first saddle bronc riding world title with Round 9 win at 50th Wrangler National Finals Rodeo
[Dec. 13, 2008] A year ago, saddle bronc rider Cody Wright came into the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo leading the Crusher Rentals PRCA World Standings, but saw his hopes of a world title dissolve after being disqualified for missing his horse out in the 10th round. He won't have to worry about losing his grasp on glory in the 10th round this year after clinching his first world title thanks to a win in Round 9 and a third consecutive buckoff by five-time World Champion Billy Etbauer. Wright, who leads the Wrangler NFR average, won Round 9 of the 50th Wrangler NFR in front of 17,784 at the Thomas & Mack Center with an 85-point ride on Frontier Rodeo's Wild Bill, while Etbauer was sent flying by Frontier Rodeo's Flint Hills. Tryan, Petska tie world record on way to Round 8 victory at 50th Wrangler National Finals Rodeo
[Dec. 12, 2008] The grandest stage in ProRodeo can often inspire greatness, and that certainly was the case in the team roping during Round 8 of the 50th Wrangler National Finals Rodeo at the Thomas & Mack Center. Travis Tryan and Cory Petska not only won the round, but also thrilled the 17,463 in attendance by tying the PRCA world record with a blistering 3.5-second time. Their mark ties the record shared by Blaine Linaweaver and Jory Levy (2001), Clay Tryan and Patrick Smith (2005) and Colter Todd and Cesar de la Cruz (2008). By Neal Reid, PRCA
 
First Checks Written at World Series of Team Roping
[Dec. 12, 2008] The World Series of Team Roping (WSTR) is well under way at the South Point Equestrian and Events Center... The first division of preliminary competition ended Wednesday with the first checks being written. The teams were split into three groups and had the opportunity to rope three steers within that rotation. The five fastest times in each rotation got a check.
