It was certainly time for the young gun from North Carolina to take his skills to the pay window at the PBR World Finals on a Sunday afternoon. Sixteen cowboys made the whistle during the 3rd round and that had been the most we'd seen all week at the Mandalay Bay Events Center. Today was another day that we'd see the classic bulls out for the second time to determine a Classic Champion and a few veterans in the mix.
Little Brian Canter put it on Berger / Low / Rosen Palace Station Deuces Wild for 89.50 and cash the $20,000 check that comes with it. Brian puts himself in contention for the average as he now has 2 bulls rode with only 2 guys ahead of him. Those two men happen to be Kody Lostroh and Guillherme Marchi who rode their bulls today but found themselves just out of the top 10 at 12th and 13th respectively.

The story of the day happened to be a disqualification of a rider due to excessive time in the chute. It happened to be Hugo Pedrero who had ridden both his bulls to this point and that will certainly come into play later on at the Thomas & Mack Center next weekend. We had J.W. Hart come to the media room to explain the DQ and it happens to be a judgment call from the 4 officials and that he'd been notified of his time frame running out. The rule is that the rider must make an honest attempt to get out on the bull if the bull is ready to compete. Evidentially he had been warned a few times already in previous rounds and was well aware of the PBR rules. Thus the DQ happens to be the very first time at a PBR World Finals that this has occurred according to Cody Lambert. There have been a few instances that DQ's have come up but never happened. With this happening it has certainly made a few bullriders take notice and maybe change the way they will ride over at the Thomas & Mack next weekend.
The leader board on Sunday happened to be dotted with guys that were new to the pay window. It was Colby Yates on Red Rooster to finish with 89.25 along with Billy Robinson's 89.25 to split the $25,000. Tony Mendes finally broke the ice with his 88.50 on Frank the Tank to get his split of 4th & 5th with Joao Kugel from Brazil who also posted an 88.50. Then it was Brendan Clark, L.J. Jenkins and Scott Schiffner 3 way tie all at 88 points a piece. Wiley Peterson and Dustin Hall finish the top 10 at 87.75 for Wiley and 87.50 for Dustin.

Of course, the other story happens to be the fact that Justin McBride has bucked off his 3rd bull of the week and is now in a position that he needs to ride the last 4 to even believe he has any hope for the title of World Champion. J.B. Mauney came down today from Eddie Munster and after the event he was somewhat disgusted with his performance today. The next 4 rounds will certainly be ones to watch and looking forward to moving over to the Thomas & Mack Center for next week.
Monday will start bright and early at 10:00 AM with the ABBI taking center stage and should you want to get into the bull business, the next 3 days will be the perfect opportunity.

PBR Fan Zone will be open the rest of the week and the weather in Vegas may be perfect and in the mid 80's. The Rodeo Attitude team will try and run down a few bullriders to interview and try to track down some of our members. We'll have reports coming from the ABBI as another member Jason Hetland joins Mary Rudloff, Linda Peterson, Barbara Pinnella and myself over the next couple of days as some of the cowboys heal up and prepare for the final 4 bulls that are left.
We close down the Mandalay Bay Events Center on a Sunday afternoon and call it a night.
