Usually we only ask for help for people in the industry but as you all know Missouri is a big horse and rodeo state and a small town is rallying around a little boy who needs our help. Many in the area are from our industry and have asked your help.
On Tuesday afternoon, September 16th, three-year-old, Colton Newman, Polo, Missouri, was severely injured in a tractor mowing accident. He lost one of his legs in the accident. He was taken to Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City where he is currently a patient. Colton’s other leg had to be amputated at the hospital and he has extensive injuries to his back side that have left him without a rectum. He now has a colonostomy which may be able to be reversed in time with healing and more surgeries. He has already endured several skin grafts as well. He was in a drug induced coma at first but has now regained. Please click on Collton’s picture to read a local story about Colton.
I have two requests to the equine and rodeo industry. First, keep this child and his family in your prayers over the next several months. He is at a very high risk for developing infection because of how the injury occurred. Second, this family need for help will reach far beyond his medical bills. This is a young family, the father is self employed. An account has been set up in his name (Colton Newman), at Bank Northwest in Polo, 305 Main St. Polo, Missouri 64671 Telephone number 660-354-2111. Please place a dollar in an envelope and send it to the bank attention this account. Then send this story to everyone you know asking them to do the same. Let’s make a difference for this little boy $1.00 at a time!
