They call it "Cowboy Christmas" because for cowboys it is just like Christmas. Lots of opportunities to get lots of prize money. For the rest of us it is our celebration of Independence Day. The fans in Cannon Falls, Minnesota came out in record numbers to celebrate with the cowboys. The weather was perfect, the bulls were ready to rock the cowboys world and the cowboys were fresh and ready to start what will be a one week run of lots and lots of bullriding. How determined were the riders? They did a fabulous job of covering their bulls. Not that the bulls didn't do their best, the riders were just fired up and ready to ride!
Besides fantastic rides the personnel seemed to know it was a holiday weekend and everyone in the audience left full of laughter with the antics of funnyman, Shawn "Boom Boom" Thompson and his foil for the day, announcer, Andy Goodrich. Brandon Lindsay and Jeremy Muntz provided the cowboy protection as well as giving the crowd a good show as they "danced with the bulls" to keep their attention on them while the cowboy got out of harms way.
This event was named New Event of the Year in 2004 and Event of the Year in 2005 for the Bullridiers of America and continues to deliver an award winning performance for both fans and contestants.
