Is Iowa steak losing its sizzle?
[Jul. 5, 2009] The Iowa steak sizzling on the backyard grill still wafts a smoky fragrance over neighborhoods.
The subtle marbling of corn-fed fat in the meat still produces the same juicy succulence.
But what that steak isn't generating these days is profits, for Iowa's cattle producers or for restaurants. Processing plants and grocery chains aren't making much money from beef, either.
Economists and restaurant owners say the night out for a steak dinner at a restaurant has joined the $4 coffee latte as a symbolic victim of the recession. The tough times are exacerbated by longer-term trends — including aging farmers, consumer health concerns and corn prices that are historically high even after a sharp drop last week.
 
Andy Thompson Benefit Bull Riding
[Jun. 25, 2009] This coming Friday night, June 26th, 2009, the Heartland Rodeo Company will be hosting the Andy Thompson Benefit Bull Riding at the Top Rail Arena in Lake City, Iowa. Andy was injured at the National Federation of Professional Bullriders Finals in St. Joseph, Missouri on April 3rd of this year. While protecting bull rider Craig Sasse, Andy took an extremely hard hit resulting in the displacement of his C5 vertebrae which had a crack that extended down to fracture the C6 vertebrae. Doctors determined that the injury is not healing and performed surgeries in May to fix the problem. By James Dean

Cowan All-Around winner at Cherokee PRCA Rodeo
[Jun. 4, 2009] Steer Wrestling champion Clay Cowan of Highmore, S.D. claimed $1,515.25 and was declared the All-Around winner at the 43rd annual Cherokee Chamber of Commerce PRCA Rodeo , which concluded its three-day run at the Cherokee County Fairgrounds on Saturday night.

[May 10, 2009] Stop 21 on the Professional Bull Riders prestigious Built Ford Tough Series was in Rodeo Attitude’s backyard so to speak. The Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, Iowa is just a short 40 miles from the home office. Needless to say we all made the trip for the first round and enjoyed having an opportunity to see all the faces that go with the voices we deal with on a daily basis. (PBR) took the top 40 bull riders in the world to Des Moines, Iowa to rock the Wells Fargo Arena with two performances of non-stop action on May 8-9. Since 1998 (with the exception of 2008 due to renovation work) the Extreme Bullriding Tour presented by RodeoAttitude.com has been making its annual stop at the Memorial Arena. The award-winning event has become famous for drawing the top riders of the Bullriders of America and the National Federation of Professional Bullriders the sanctioning bodies of the bull riding. In fact the list of riders included reigning as well as former champions in both associations and the tour. Iowa rodeo cowboy, Curtis Stark killed in car accident
[Sep. 30, 2008] On Tuesday, September 30th, that Curtis Stark, 21, Lovilia, Iowa, was killed at approximately 12:30 AM just 2 miles from his home. Curtis is the son of Doug and Cindy Stark and was very active in Iowa High School Rodeo. He had currently been competing in the Iowa Rodeo Cowboy Association (IRCA) and the United States Team Roping Championships (USTRC).(IRCA) and the United States Team Roping Championships (USTRC). [Sep. 20, 2008] Iowan's were singing "Rain, rain, go away!" as summer began in the Hawkeye state. Flood waters reeked havoc throughout the state. Today the final weekend of the summer has dawned on a gorgeous sunshiny day with only the lightest touch of a breeze. It is a day to enjoy and enjoy Iowans will. The Iowa Speedway in Newton is dedicating the weekend to raising money for flood victims with the "Race 2 Recovery 225 USAR Hooter's Pro Cup".
