Top Bull Riders gathered in Albia, Iowa for the 2nd Annual Dan Larson Memorial Bull Riding Saturday the 2nd of June. Bull Riding fans filled the stands on this beautiful spring evening which was perfect following several days of rain in the area.
$3,000 added money drew 30 of the best National Federation of Professional Bullriders (NFPB) riders to the Monroe County Fairgrounds. The NFPB Rookie of the year in 2006, Jeremy Miller of Paragold, AK and Matt Moore of Brosman, MO were among those battling for the top spot. Craig Sasse of St. Peters, IL a past PBR world finals qualifier drew a lot of attention among the bull riding fans as well as Cade Sloan & Carl Spidle top bull riders from the south central Iowa area.
The crowning moments came when Ryan Schumacher of Baldwin, WI followed closely by Ronnie Kitchens of Ft. Dodge, Iowa both covering 2 bulls. Ryan Schumacher, 2nd Annual Memorial Champion Bull Rider took home $1,639.44 while Ronnie Kitchens winnings were $1,242.00.
Albia once again saw a very successful bull riding & barrel racing event thanks to great bull riding fans and very supportive sponsors. This year's sponsors included 1st Iowa State Bank, Relco Locomotives, McCorkle Hardware as well as Mom's Place who provided great food throughout the evening. Flashing Thunder Fireworks followed the arena events with great fireworks display. A dance with Cross Country provided the finale for the 2nd Annual Dan Larson Memorial Bull Ride.
