Dalton Baumann, 15, of Floris, Iowa, died Tuesday, May 15th. Dalton was a sophomore at Davis County High School. At approximately 6:45 AM Dalton was headed west on Troy Road outside of Bloomfield, Iowa on his way to school when he lost control of his pickup. The road he was traveling is gravel and it was raining at the time. He crossed the center line and landed in the eastbound ditch where the vehicle hit two farm driveways causing the truck to roll and land on its top.
There are very few people involved in rodeo in the state of Iowa that did not know Dalton Baumann. He has been active in the sport since a very early age. Even when he was too young to compete he was there with his family: Grandma Karen Orman, Uncle Marc Orman and mother Stacie Orman, Dalton competed in the Iowa High School Rodeo Association as well as other junior and local organizations. In fact Dalton competed on Saturday and Sunday in Marshalltown, Iowa, at an Iowa High School Rodeo event.
Besides rodeo Dalton was involved in Babe Ruth Baseball and the Student Ambassador Program.
Visitation will be Friday with the family present from 6-8 PM and the funeral will be at 2 PM on Saturday. Both will be held at the Henkenius-Priester Funeral Home, 18754 Highway 63, Bloomfield, IA.
A rodeo benefit is being planned to help the family with the expenses of this tragedy. Their rodeo friends are suggesting that in lieu of flowers a monetary donation to the family would be greatly appreciated. Anyone wishing more information on the benefit or wishing to contribute may contact Hiedi Scoles at 515-468-0843.
