Cowboys Face Tough Competition at National Western[Jan. 19, 2009] DENVER, Colo. - It was a tough day for rodeo contestants at the National Western Stock Show Rodeo on Sunday...During the matinee performance, they had their first round competition, then came back at 6:30 in the evening for their second round. Bareback and Bull Riding Highlight Denver Rodeo[Jan. 18, 2009] DENVER, Colo. - A sold-out Denver Coliseum got to see two outstanding rides at the eighth performance of the National Western Stock Show Rodeo.
The first came in bareback riding when Tim Shirley rode Cajun Queen for 90 points. Shirley from Conifer is now at the top of the leader board in two categories. His 90-point effort aboard the horse named Flying Five Rodeo’s Cajun Queen set a new arena record, and gave him the lead in the second round and over-all standings. By Susan Kanode

Colorado Bull Riders Dominate PBR Event at National Western[Jan. 14, 2009] DENVER, Colo.- Colorado bull riding fans couldn’t have been any happier at the second performance of the Denver Chute-Out.
They got to see two of their own go to the top of the leader board in hopes of keeping the championship in the state. Josh Koschel from Greeley, won the first round of competition with an 89-point effort on a bull owned by Dillon and H.D. Page. The ride was worth $4,898. By Susan Kanode
87 is Magic Number at National Western Stock Show Bull Riding[Jan. 13, 2009] DENVER, Colo. - A year ago during the first performance of the Professional Bull Riders' Denver Chute Out, Nick Landreneau was the leader.
The Welsh, La., bull rider had similar success at this year’s event but is sharing the top spot with two other bull riders. J.B. Mauney, from Mooresville, N.C., and Mark Lopes, from Jackson, Calif., also had 87-point rides. By Susan Kanode
