World No. 1 Takes Round One Victory in Tulsa[Jul. 19, 2009] PUEBLO, Colo. (July 17, 2009) - The top 40 bull riders invaded The Sooner State for the 2009 U.S. Border Patrol Invitational presented by Express and River Spirit Casino. The world’s best riders took on the toughest bulls in the country in Tulsa’s brand-new BOK Center for stop #23 of the Professional Bull Riders’ (PBR) elite Built Ford Tough Series (BFTS) tour. In the end, world no. 1 bull rider Kody Lostroh (Longmont, Colo.) took home the round one win after riding the bull, Neon Ghost, owned by Jeff Robinson Bucking Bulls/Bryan Smith, for 88.5 points. Rodeo numbers down, even with big finish[Jul. 10, 2009] Organizers at the 69th annual Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo took heart in a national trend of growing ticket sales earlier this week after a slight decline over the first two days. That optimism paid off with a sellout Friday night and another expected tonight.

Cowboy recovering from horse kick at Snowmass Rodeo[Jul. 4, 2009] SNOWMASS VILLAGE — A Greeley man was released from a Denver hospital Friday after being kicked in the mouth by a horse Wednesday at the Snowmass Rodeo.
Jared Roth, 21, underwent surgery for facial injuries and was scheduled to return to his hometown, said Chris Kelly, executive director of the Snowmass Western Heritage Association, which produces the rodeo.
“We don't have a lot of incidents like this,” Kelly said, “but rodeos can be a risky venture.”
