Sacremento Round One Action

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (January 17, 2009) - The world's best bull riders headed north to California’s Capitol City, Sacramento, for the second of back-to-back stops. In event #4 on the elite Built Ford Tough Series (BFTS), Renato Nunes (Buritama, SP, Brazil) walked out of ARCO Arena victorious after topping top bull, Little Bo, owned by 4C’s/Sills/Barker. Nunes scored 89 points on his way to the round one win.

Finishing in second place was Oklahoma young gun Ryan Dirteater (Hulbert, Okla.) who scored 88.75 points on the bull, Bible Bender, owned by Don Kish Bucking Bulls. Third place went to Dustin Elliott (North Platte, Neb.) who took on 4C’s Bucking Bulls/Marvin Nixon’s top animal, Devil’s Night, for 88 points. Valdiron de Oliveira (Aparecida de Goiania, GO, Brazil) took fourth place after scoring 87.25 points on Don Kish Bucking Bulls’ West Coast Offence while Harve Stewart (Stephenville, Texas) rounded out fifth place with 86.25 points on the bull Savage Nation, owned by Don Kish Bucking Bulls.

Due to his round one win at Fresno’s Table Mountain Casino Invitational, Kody Lostroh (Longmont, Colo.) was eligible to compete for the $5,000 Enterprise Rent-A-Car “Ride with the Best” bonus during round one of the Sacramento Classic. Because of his qualified ride on the bull, Crab Man, owned by Rod Thieman, Lostroh was awarded the $5,000 bonus. As the winner of round one, Renato Nunes (Buritama, SP, Brazil) will be eligible to compete for the $5,000 bonus during the second round of competition.

The Sacramento Classic concludes tomorrow as the top 45 bull riders compete in round two and the Built Ford Tough Championship Round to see who will take home the coveted Sacramento event title. The event will air on VERSUS at 8:00 p.m. EST on Sunday, January 18.

INJURY REPORT:
Aaron Roy
