PRCA Weekly News Release July 27, 2009[Jul. 27, 2009] CHEYENNE, Wyo. – Who knew? Billy Etbauer actually had a gap in his trophy case. A five-time world champion saddle bronc rider and 20-time Wrangler National Finals Rodeo qualifier, Etbauer had never won a buckle and saddle at the Cheyenne Frontier Days Rodeo until he captured the three-head average July 26 with 251 points. Mortensen joins legends in rodeo Hall of Fame[Jul. 12, 2009] COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Rodeo star Dan Mortensen of Billings was the best in the business for a long time. Now he's been honored as among the best of all-time.Mortensen, who matched the record of the legendary Casey Tibbs with six world saddle bronc championships, was officially inducted into the ProRodeo Hall of Fame here Saturday.

No. 2 trumps No. 1 in bareback event[May 8, 2009] The second night of bareback riding saw a battle between the Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association's top two riders, with No. 2 besting No. 1.
Second-ranked Heath Ford's Thursday night bareback effort received a score of 81 to become the rodeo leader after two nights. That topped Tim Shirley's 78-point ride Wednesday night. Other bareback rides Thursday included a score of 79 by Steven Anding and scores of 77 by Snyder's Jared Smith and top-ranked bareback rider Clint Cannon, of Waller, Texas.

Wade Sundell pays tribute to late grandfather with Dodge National Circuit Finals Rodeo victory[Apr. 12, 2009] POCATELLO, Idaho - When saddle bronc rider Wade Sundell took off his hat and fanned his horse with it at the end of his winning ride Saturday night at Holt Arena it wasn't merely youthful exuberance. It was a tribute to his late grandpa.
Cloyd Sundell Jr., 77, died last week and at the April 10 funeral in Boxholm, Iowa, Wade pledged to his family and friends that if he made to the final round of the Dodge National Circuit Finals Rodeo, presented by U.S. Smokeless Tobacco, he was going to do something to recognize a man "who was always there for me."
