Sanctioned by the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) the event at the Will Rogers Coliseum is part of the Xtreme Bulls tour. By Susan Kanode

Cowboys Face Tough Competition at National Western[Jan. 19, 2009] DENVER, Colo. - It was a tough day for rodeo contestants at the National Western Stock Show Rodeo on Sunday...During the matinee performance, they had their first round competition, then came back at 6:30 in the evening for their second round. Through seven events, there were only four contestants to move into the top four in the over-all standings. By Susan Kanode
Bareback and Bull Riding Highlight Denver Rodeo[Jan. 18, 2009] DENVER, Colo. - A sold-out Denver Coliseum got to see two outstanding rides at the eighth performance of the National Western Stock Show Rodeo.
The first came in bareback riding when Tim Shirley rode Cajun Queen for 90 points. Shirley from Conifer is now at the top of the leader board in two categories. His 90-point effort aboard the horse named Flying Five Rodeo’s Cajun Queen set a new arena record, and gave him the lead in the second round and over-all standings. By Susan Kanode

Outhier anxious for his return to ProRodeo's finale[Jan. 9, 2009] For four Decembers, Mike Outhier has watched the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo from a comfortable couch in the middle of his living room...He didn't like it too much. The Utopia, Texas, saddle bronc rider would’ve been much more comfortable in the middle of nasty bucking horses for 10 rough days in Las Vegas, home of ProRodeo's championship. Injuries sidelined the four-time Wrangler NFR qualifier for three years, but last year was more disappointment than doctor’s orders. By Ted Harbin
LeMond takes two loops at his hometown rodeo[Jan. 7, 2009] ODESSA, Texas - It was twice the fun for a regional cowboy on Wednesday night at the SandHills Stock Show and Rodeo at the Ector County Coliseum.
LeMond, a first-time Wrangler National Finals Rodeo qualifier in 2008, returned home to compete in the third performance of the Odessa based rodeo. The Andrews cowboy competed in tie-down roping and team roping Wednesday night and is also scheduled for the steer-roping competition that’s scheduled for Friday. By Ted Harbin
Ryan Gray finds comforts of home at SandHills Rodeo[Jan. 4, 2009] ODESSA, Texas - It was good and bad for a couple of Odessa College rodeo team alumni.
Bareback rider Ryan Gray of Cheney, Wash., had the best score of the night, matching moves with the Harry Vold Rodeo Co. bronc Dust Devil for 84 points.
