Local favorite comes away with Xtreme Bulls win[Jan. 31, 2010] RAPID CITY, S.D. --- Talk about an underdog. Clay Hindman wasn’t even supposed to compete at the Xtreme Bulls event in Rapid City, held in conjunction with the Black Hills Stock Show Rodeo.
He was admittedly “way down” on the list of qualifiers, but it so happened that the PRCA called him this week to see if he wanted to fill in for someone. So the South Dakota bull rider pinned his back number on with pro bull riding stars such as Steve Woolsey, Kanin Asay and Bobby Welsh – and
promptly took their money. By Julie Mankin, for the Black Hills Stock Show
Hindman’s first-round win thrills homestate crowd[Jan. 30, 2010] RAPID CITY, S.D. --- The PRCA Seminole Hard Rock Xtreme Bulls Tour, presented by B&W Trailer Hitches, hit the ground running in Rapid City on Friday night, returning to the Black Hills Stock Show for the fourth straight year.
In a star-studded field of the world’s best bull riders, which included 2007 PRCA world champion Wesley Silcox, defending Rapid City Xtreme Bulls champ Bobby Welsh and nine other recent Wrangler NFR bull riders, Belvidere’s Clay Hindman couldn’t have planned his draw any better. Hindman had quietly been making a name for himself in late 2009, scoring 89 points last fall and hitting 90 at a rodeo in Elk City on Buetler & Son’s famed bull Tokyo Drift. World Champs Enjoy Success at Fort Worth Stock Show &Rodeo[Jan. 30, 2010] FORT WORTH, Texas --- There were six gold buckles represented in the team roping at the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo on Friday night and fans got to see the talent that earned those titles.
Allen Bach from Weatherford, Texas, has four of those buckles in his collection. He did the heeling for Matt Sherwood, from Pima, Ariz., who has two. The newly crowned team or Nick Sartain and Kollin VonAhn were also here and all four had success in their first appearances at the Will Rogers Memorial Coliseum. Hand Eye Coordination Helps Tie-Down Roper[Jan. 29, 2010] FORT WORTH, Texas --- There is no doubt that roping that riding down the arena on the back of a running horse, swinging a rope and catching a calf requires great hand eye coordination.
Randall Carlisle from Lipan, Texas, just might have an edge over the rest of the field in that respect. While he is just 5 foot 9 inches tall, Carlisle holds the national record for the most 3-point baskets made in high school at 516 according to National High School Sports Record Book. By Susan Kanode, Ft. Worth Stock Show & Rodeo
Elshere’s Winning Ways Continue at National Western[Jan. 25, 2010] DENVER, Colo.--- J.J. Elshere couldn’t have been any happier with his performance at the 104th edition of the Ntational Western Stock Show Rodeo.
The Quinn, S.D., bronc rider was the high money winner at the 2010 rodeo after having won money in every round of competition. Elshere won the first round, tied for first in the second round and tied for fifth in the finals. When all of the total were added up, he had 242 points on three rides, ahead of fellow South Dakotan, Jeff Willert, who had 237 points. By Susan Kanode
