FORT WORTH. TX - The rodeo at the 113th Fort Worth Stock Show Rodeo kicked off Friday night with second generation cowboys setting top scores and fast times.

One of those cowboys is Kaycee Feild from Elk Ridge, Utah. He and Jared Keylon from Fort Scott, Kan., tied for the lead in the bareback riding at 82 points each. Feild, who is the son of world champion Lewis Feild, rode the horse from Pete Carr Pro Rodeo named Real Deal. Keylon was also on a Carr horse, Cool Runnings.

In the tie-down roping, Tyson Durfey, from Colbert, Wash., took over the lead in the first round by tying his calf in 7.9 seconds shaving a half-second off the previous leader from the pre-rodeo competition. Durfey, who was raised in Missouri learned to rope from his father Roy Durfey.

The bull riders proved they were no match for Friday night’s bulls as the cowboys were shut out. The performance ended with bulls -12, cowboys – zero.

All of the contestants at the rodeo compete in two preliminary rounds throughout the next 29 performances with the top 12 over all advancing to the final round. The second and third performances are Saturday, Jan. 24, at 2:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
