Home cooking for Stevenson.
Wes Stevenson, who rode bareback horses for Texas Tech University in Lubbock, returned to his alma mater and scored a victory at the ABC Pro Rodeo, which concluded its three-day run April 5 at the Lubbock Municipal Coliseum. Stevenson, of Kaufman, Texas, pocketed $1,121 after his event-best 84 points aboard Beutler & Son Rodeo’s Star Dust.

Texans claimed titles in every event, coming from near and far.
Stevenson traveled the farthest, driving 378 miles from his residence just east of Dallas. Meanwhile, team roping heeler Cody Springer of Aspermont (117 miles) and steer wrestler Dusty Lanham of Amarillo (124 miles) had considerably less ground to cover.

Springer and heading partner Will Foster IV of Sterling City recorded a two-head time of 15.1 seconds to win the title and $1,045 each. Lanham turfed two steers in 7.6 seconds, good for $1,722.

Other champions in Lubbock were saddle bronc rider Bradley Harter of Weatherford, Texas, 86 points on Beutler & Son Rodeo’s Black Gold, $1,364; tie-down roper Charley Russell of Shamrock, Texas, 18.0 seconds on two head, $1,022; and bull rider Cory McFadden of Coleman, Texas, 85 points on Beutler & Son Rodeo’s The Wonderer, $1,536.

Hall of Fame summer hours.
Effective April 1, the ProRodeo Hall of Fame and Museum of the American Cowboy began observing its summer hours schedule, meaning the building is open seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Summer hours continue through the Labor Day weekend. For more information, visit www.prorodeohalloffame.com
