Page 3 of 15 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 | Next 10>> Bello rides Hill Top to lead the 89th annual Reno Rodeo on opening night[Jun. 21, 2008] Australian turned Utah cowboy Anthony Bello had a great opening night at the 89th annual Reno Rodeo riding Rosser Rodeo's Hill Top for 86 points. Bello, who currently resides in Oakley and won the 2007 Dodge National Circuit Finals Rodeo, edged Justin Arnold of Santa Margarita, Calif., by one point to take the early lead in the saddle bronc riding. Arnold posted an 85 on Flying U Rodeo’s Sam’s Town. Both cowboys will be back on Saturday night during the second performance of the Reno Rodeo for their second round horse and they hope to at least equal or improve on their first round score to secure their spot in the final round on June 28. Rodeo contractor defends use of prods[Jun. 20, 2008] HARD wants to penalize the rodeo association and animal supplier Flying U Rodeo Co. for violating its rules during the May 17-18 event. The association and Flying U owner Cotton Rosser said they are challenging the decision, based on state and national standards.
Xtreme Bulls: Silcox tops the class of Bulls riders[Jun. 18, 2008] Wes Silcox came into last year's Dodge Xtreme Bulls stop in Reno in 22nd place in the world standings and on a cold streak. He left Reno 10 days later with nearly $30,000 in his pocket, the No. 4 spot in the standings and on a roll that would lead him to his first world championship.
Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association Hires French/West/Vaughan[Jun. 3, 2008] French/West/Vaughan (FWV), one of the nation’s largest independent public relations, public affairs and brand communications agencies, today announced it has been named agency-of-record by the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA). The PRCA is the premier governing body of professional rodeo in the United States, sanctioning more than 600 rodeos across the country each year.
PRCA qualifier chases destiny atop old mare[May 29, 2008] Thirteen months ago, Stran Smith's prize roping horse, Topper, died from a hit-and-run accident after wandering onto U.S. Highway 287 in front of the world-class roper's Childress home. But Smith, a nine-time Wrangler National Finals Rodeo tie-down roping qualifier, has more than replaced his former American Quarter Horse Association world champion with a younger quarter horse named Destiny.

World, DNCFR champions headline 2008 Pocatello field[Feb. 25, 2008] The Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) announced the field of contestants who have qualified for the 2008 Dodge National Circuit Finals Rodeo (DNCFR) presented by U. S. Smokeless Tobacco on March 19-22, at the Holt Arena at Idaho State University in Pocatello, Idaho. The DNCFR is the crowning event of the PRCA’s 12 circuit system of regional competition.
Texas Rodeo Circuit Finals Bullfighter[Jan. 5, 2008] He's clad in baggy clown clothes and face makeup, but Chad Beavers' job as a rodeo bullfighter is one of the most dangerous in the world. For $20,000 to $40,000 a year, the 40-year-old Goldthwaite resident makes a living stepping between angry, bucking bulls and bull riders. PRCA promises more involvement in youth rodeo[Jan. 4, 2008] The PRCA sanctions pro rodeo events and thus is not officially affiliated with college rodeo, high school rodeo, junior rodeo, and the Little Britches rodeo program. The PRCA, however, recognizes the value of those youth programs to the professional organization’s future and plans to become more involved with the lower-level programs.
It's the PRCA for every cowboy[Dec. 27, 2007] The Heartland ProRodeo Series is about to swing open in full force. The new enterprise is designed to join smaller rodeos - which offer committee purses of up to $30,000 - in a series that will conclude with a championship event in Waco on Oct. 3-11. The Finals will feature minimum prize money of $400,000 and as much as $500,000.
AMERICAN QUARTER HORSESS REWARDED FOR WNFR PERFORMANCES[Dec. 21, 2007] American Quarter Horses carry the hopes and dreams of PRCA cowboys and cowgirls in the rodeo arena and American Quarter Horse Association's Corporate Partner Fort Dodge rewarded the owners and riders of American Quarter Horses at this year.s WNFR with a unique, fan-voted contest.

The golf cart was pointing up from the bottom of the ramp that led into San Antonio's posh SBC Center, and Hadley Barrett's boot was flat on the floor. In an instant, the 2002 PRCA Announcer of the Year was at the top of the ramp, through the gate and into the crowd, the cart swallowed by a sea of kids, cowboys hats and barbecue pit smoke.
