83-Point Rides Take Center Stage at National Western[Jan. 15, 2010] DENVER, Colo. --- There were two 83-point efforts at the top of the leaderboard at the third performance of the National Western Stock Show Rodeo on Thursday.
In bareback riding, it was Josh Luger from Fort Yates, N.D., who was the most successful. He rode the Burns Rodeo Company horse named Gray Coat. While his 83 is in second place in the first round of competition, it puts him in position to get another good score tomorrow and qualify for the finals. Business trip to Las Vegas paying dividends for Tyson Durfey[Dec. 12, 2009] LAS VEGAS – With one round to go at the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo, Tyson Durfey is all business.
“If I can go and win some more round money tomorrow, it could turn into a $90,000 week,” Durfey said Friday night after posting a 7.8-second run to finish in a tie for fourth place in the ninth of 10 go-rounds.
The 26-year-old Colbert, Wash., cowboy has placed in six rounds at this season’s Wrangler National Finals Rodeo and has won more than $54,000 doing so. Each time he’s placed, it’s been in less than 8 seconds – he’s had three 7.8-second runs and three 7.6s. By Ted Harbin
World champ fighting through adversity at the NFR[Dec. 10, 2009] LAS VEGAS – The moral of the story is to roll with the punches.
Justin McDaniel is doing that, and it’s paid off pretty well so far. Through six go-rounds at the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo, the Porum, Okla., cowboy has earned $37,412. He’s shared the victories in two rounds and placed in two others. By Ted Harbin
Oklahoma cowboy wins his 2nd bareback-riding go-round[Dec. 6, 2009] LAS VEGAS – Cool Water turned hot on Saturday night during the third go-round of the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo.
Justin McDaniel was the beneficiary, riding the Andrews Rodeo bareback horse for 85 points to split the round victory and collect the $15,343 for doing so. By Ted Harbin
