If you did not watch Dancing with the Stars last night, you missed an absolutely outstanding performance by Ty Murray and his partner Chelsie Hightower. Doing the Foxtrot, Murray literally floated across the dance floor and became the hero of the night when his professional partner slipped and Murray very calmly caught her and proceeded with their dance as if nothing had happened. “I just waited on her,” he said later.
“With Chelsie slipping tonight that was something we hadn’t rehearsed,” wrote Murray, in his daily blog, “but, at the same time, she has prepared me for mishaps or mistakes. She always told me that if something happens just get back to her and she’ll get us back to the right count.”
They were able to continue their dance and with only a slight misstep near the end, the judges were thrilled with Murray’s progress.
Carrie Anne Inaba and Len Goodman both gave the pair an eight, and Bruno Tonioli praised Hightower as a “miracle worker” in acknowledging Murray’s “amazing improvement.” On hand to cheer on their friend were Justin McBride and Randy Bernard, who along with the audience showered Tonioli with boo's when he announced his score of seven.
The combined score of 23 puts Murray and Hightower in a tie for sixth and seventh place along with Chuck Wicks and partner Julianne Hough. There is a three-way tie for first with celebrities Shawn Johnson, Gilles Marini and Melissa Rycroft – all earning 27 points.
Don't ever discount Ty Murray at anything! When this champion bullrider sets his mind to win, there is no obstacle that can stand in his way. The competitor in Ty has set this contest just like any other. He's not there to take second place! He's there to win that mirrored trophy and is working hard to get there. He has improved his dancing so much in such a short time. I can't wait to watch him NEXT week!
Until next time....
