SULPHUR SPRINGS, Texas – A look at the Professional Bull Riders website reveals that Ryan
Dirteater is injured.
On Friday night during the opening performance of the two-night Texas Heritage National Bank
PBR Challenge presented by Priefert Ranch Equipment and Pro-Trak Trailers benefiting the Make-A-
Wish Foundation of North Texas, Dirteater made a point of telling the Hopkins County Regional Civic
Center crowd that he is perfectly sound.
The Hulbert, Okla., man was one of just two cowboys to earn two qualified rides, and his 171
cumulative score has him on top of the PBR Touring Pro event leaderboard. Luis Blanco of Irving,
Texas, finished Friday night with 158.5 points and is second heading into the final performance, set for
7:30 p.m. Saturday.
But there was plenty of action in the civic center on opening night. Not only did Dirteater take
the lead – he scored 88.5 points in the first round and 82.5 in the short go-round – but the competition in
the Professional Bullfights Daisy Protection Bullfight Tour ended with two teams atop the leaderboard:
Team City National Bank and Team Texas Heritage National Bank with 114 points each.
Team CNB is represented by Chad Dowdy of Bristow, Okla., and Evan Allard of Vinita, Okla.,
while Team THNB features Dusty Tuckness of Meeteetse, Wyo., and Ross Hill of Muscle Shoals, Ala.
Both teams were just seven points better than Team Guaranty Bond Bank, Dave Jantzi of Sugar Creek,
Ohio, and Anthony Moore of Council Hill, Okla. Team Lonestar Dodge, Jason Magditch of Revere,
Pa., and Brodie Nelson of Perry, Ark., slid into the fourth-place spot with 105 points, followed by Team
Alliance Bank, Lance McIlvain of Arlington, Texas, and Pat Riha of Stuart, Neb., which finished with
96 points.
