PORTLAND, Ore. (October 2, 2009) - The top 40 bull riders in the world made their way to Oregon for the GoDaddy.com Invitational presented by Cooper Tires, stop no. 29 on the elite Built Ford Tough Series (BFTS) tour. The world’s best took on the toughest bulls that the PBR had to offer in Portland’s Rose Garden Arena and at the end of Friday evening, Colorado cowboy Josh Koschel (Greeley, Colo.) walked away with the round one victory. He rode his re-ride bull, Frank the Tank, owned by Dakota Rodeo/John & Lacey Berger/Clay Struve, for 87.75 points, collecting a check for $2,730.
Finishing in second place was Robson Palermo (Rio Branco, Acre, Brazil) who scored 87.5 points on Dakota Rodeo/Clay Struve’s bull, Walk the Line. Third place went to Shane Proctor (Mooresville, N.C.) who took on the bull, Juicy Vindication of Don Kish Bucking Bulls, for 87.25 points. Georgia cowboy Sean Willingham (Summerville, Ga.) scored 86.5 points on the bull, Snake Oil (Chumley Long Cattle Co) for a fourth place finish while 2008 PBR World Champion Guilherme Marchi (Leme, SP, Brazil) rounded out fifth place with an 85.5 point score on the bull, Boomtown, owned by Corey & Horse Rodeo Co. Inc.
Due to his round two win at the Dickies Invitational in Ontario, Calif., world no. 1 bull rider Kody Lostroh (Longmont, Colo.) was eligible to compete for the $5,000 Enterprise Rent-A-Car “Ride with the Best” bonus during round one of the GoDaddy.com Invitational. He took on the bull, Team Equine’s High Roller, but was bucked off before the eight seconds; therefore, the stock contractor, Kelly Bowcutt, was awarded the $5,000 bonus. As the winner of round one, Josh Koschel (Longmont, Colo.) will be eligible to compete for the $5,000 bonus during the second round of competition.
The GoDaddy.com Invitational presented by Cooper Tires concludes tomorrow as the top 40 bull riders in the world compete in round two and the Built Ford Tough Championship Round to see who will take home the coveted Portland title. Round two will air on VERSUS on Saturday, October 3 at 10:30 p.m. EST while CBS will broadcast the Built Ford Tough Championship Round on Sunday, October 4 (please check your local listings for times).
