As I arrived at the Thomas and Mack arena tonight, I couldn't help but reflect on the opening night from several of the fans from last night. I proceeded to the media room inside and found the daysheet with all the match-ups of the evening. An earlier press release from last night had stated by Cody Lambert, livestock director of the PBR that "the riders had there way with the bulls last night but tonight the bulls will have there way with the riders". He stated that "he hadn't seen anything like this especially since the bulls have gotten so good". He noted that spectators can witness a different story line tonight what they call the rank pen of bucking bulls. Some of the notable matchups look like this and remember that these kids picked these bulls this morning at the draft. Jared Farley who scored 89.25 last night to grab a little of the go round money will have Red Chester of Woodruff/XS Ranch which is a bull that won a fistful of money on the ABBI Classic tour a year ago. Lucky strike of David Bailey and the bucking bull of the 2006 World Finals was picked by Ryan Dirteater form Oklahoma. We'll wait to see which Oklahoma superstar will win this match up. Billy Robinson went deep with his pick of Chicken on a Chain, he said at the draft that he hadn't ever been on him but seen him plenty of times. When asked if he could ride him his reply was, "I got here to the finals riding bulls so if I didn't think I could ride him I wouldn't have picked him". We wish him the best and move to a White Magic of Diamond G Rodeos which also was a classic bull from a year ago and a bull that is capable of ejecting his jockey in 3.8 seconds. He'll have Harve Stewart aboard him tonight. Of course, looking at this list I can't help but notice that out of all this bull, there are probably 40 candidates that could all vie for bucking bull of the year in there careers on the PBR tour. Full Throttle, Super Duty, Party Time, Crazy Train, Hot Stuff, Big Bucks, Scene of the Crash, Billionaire and Avalanche.
Those are just to name a few of the bulls we'll see tonight doing there part to send a bullrider out of the arena on the floor and dusting off those wranglers. But tonight, we get close look at the contenders for Bucking Bull of the year honors. I already mentioned the Classic and Futurities of the ABBI partnership with the PBR and many of the bulls tonight are special in deed. There are 5 candidates that will take the Gold Buckle home to one of the lucky owners but we'll start with All In from Alex Naccarato of California. A 6 year old bull that has grown up this year and with 14 trips out on the Built Ford Tough Series this year, Justin McBride was one of 3 to stay aboard for the full 8 seconds. Make no Bones about it; Bones is a legitimate contender as well. This bull is perfect for the year and the only one in the field of 5 that is. The boys haven't figured him out yet as his 7 trips out this season have a 4.24 seconds eject time frame. Bones is1 of 2 bulls out of the Whitewater Skoal breeding program looking for a world title Copperhead Slinger is again in the running for the buckle as well and his famous dad, Mossy Oak Mudslinger was the 2006 bucking bull of the year so dad has been coaching a little bit back home on the ranch. He knows what it takes to go to the top of the field and in Copperhead Slinger's career he has seen 75 trips behind the Preifert Chutes and only been ridden 22 times. Guilherme Marchi has chosen him tonight so we may see 2 world champions emerge from this matchup. Spit Fire and Troubadour round out the remaining bulls and both have stellar records. Travis Briscoe from New Mexico chose Spit Fire and last nights winner and newest millionaire J.B. Mauney has included Troubadour on his list if accomplishments to be completed. We'll wait to see if that will be checked off tonight. I will have the full report following the performance but it's time to head to the arena floor for this evenings round.
Oh, remember to set your clock back tonight and we'll see you all in a couple hours
