PBR in Tallahasee!

Don’t miss the conclusion of the Troy-Bilt Invitational when it airs on VERSUS on Sunday night.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (February 7, 2009) - The world’s best bull riders headed north to Florida’s Capitol City, Tallahassee, for the second of back-to-back stops. At the Troy-Bilt Invitational presented by Cooper Tires, stop #8 on the elite Built Ford Tough Series (BFTS), Kasey Hayes (Liberal, Kan.) and Travis Briscoe (Edgewood, N.M.) walked out of the Leon County Civic Center splitting the round one win after each topped their bulls for 89.25 points. Hayes took on Walk the Line, owned by Chad Berger/Clay Struve, while Briscoe rode the bull, Motown, of Frontier Rodeo Company.

Finishing in third place was New Mexico’s L.J. Jenkins (Texico, N.M.) who scored 87.5 points on the bull, Black Jack, owned by Circle T Ranch & Rodeo. Splitting fourth, fifth, and sixth place were “Mighty” Mike White (De Kalb, Texas), PBR veteran Brian Herman (Victoria, Texas), and Oklahoma’s own Kolt Donaldson (Idabel, Okla.). Each scored 87.25 points with White topping Circle T Ranch & Rodeo’s Buffalo Hide, Herman riding the bull, Hammer Head of Roy Carter Bucking Bulls, and Donaldson on Colt 45, owned by Freddy Cordel.

Due to his round one win at the Tampa Invitational, current #1 bull rider J.B. Mauney (Mooresville, N.C.) was eligible to compete for the $5,000 Enterprise Rent-A-Car “Ride with the Best” bonus during round one of the Troy-Bilt Invitational. Because of his qualified ride on the bull, Rude Awakening, owned by Chad Berger Bucking Bulls, Mauney was awarded the $5,000 bonus. As the winner of round one, Kasey Hayes (Liberal, Kan.) will be eligible to compete for the $5,000 bonus during the second round of competition.

The Troy-Bilt Invitational concludes tomorrow as the top 40 bull riders compete in round two and the Built Ford Tough Championship Round to see who will take home the first-ever Tallahassee event title. The event will air on VERSUS at 8:00 p.m. EST on Sunday, February 8.

INJURY REPORT:
Austin Meier
(Kinta, Okla.) bruised his shoulder and received a concussion after being bucked off of his round one bull. Meier is probable for tomorrow’s competition.

Valdiron de Oliveira (Aparecida de Goiania, GO, Brazil) bruised his forearm during round one of the Troy-Bilt Invitational. He is probable for Tallahassee’s round two.
