
OMAHA, Neb. (April 24, 2009) - The top 40 bull riders in the world invaded Omaha, Neb., for the Bass Pro Shops Shootout presented by Tracker Boats. In stop #19 on the prestigious Built Ford Tough Series (BFTS), 2008 Omaha event champion Brian Canter (Randleman, N.C.) walked out of the Qwest Center with the round one win after scoring 93 points on the bull, Crosswired, owned by D&H Cattle Co./Clifton Wiggins. Canter added $2,730 to his bank account.
Finishing in second place was Brendon Clark (Morpeth, AUS) who scored 88 points on D&H Cattle Company/Buck/Watts’ bull, Good Time Charley. 2008 PBR World Champion Guilherme Marchi (Leme, SP, Brazil) and fan favorite Luke Snyder (Raymore, Mo.) who is competing in his 253rd consecutive event, split third and fourth place after each scored 87.5 points. Marchi took on the bull, Range War, owned by Circle T Ranch & Rodeo) while Snyder rode the bull, Hit Man of “Mo” Betta Bull Company. Rounding out fifth place was home state bull rider Dustin Elliott (North Platte, Neb.) who scored 86.75 points on the bull, Habanero (Mossyrock Cattle Company).
Due to his round three win at The NILE Invitational in Billings, Mont., Michael Manes (Conway, Ark.) was eligible to compete for the $5,000 Enterprise Rent-A-Car “Ride with the Best” bonus during round one of the Bass Pro Shops Shootout in Omaha, Neb. Manes did not make the eight second whistle on the bull, Rocko; therefore, the stock contractor, 4C’s/Sills/HD Bucking Bulls, was awarded the $5,000 bonus. As the winner of round one, Brian Canter (Randleman, N.C.) will be eligible to compete for the $5,000 bonus during the second round of competition.
The Bass Pro Shops Shootout presented by Tracker Boats concludes tomorrow as the top 40 bull riders compete in round two and the Built Ford Tough Championship Round to see who will take home the coveted Omaha event title. The event will air on VERSUS on Saturday, April 25, and Sunday, April 26. Please check your local listings for times.
INJURY REPORT:
Kody Lostroh (Longmont, Colo.) broke his nose during Omaha’s round one. He will compete in tomorrow’s round.
Billy Robinson (Galax, Va.) suffered a chin laceration. He will compete in round two in Omaha.
Shane Proctor (Grand Coulee, Wash.) strained his groin during round one. He is probable for round two.
