OAKLAND, Calif. (September 27, 2008) - The PBR Out of the Chute Invitational provided non-stop action for the Oracle Arena crowd as the Professional Bull Riders, Inc. (PBR) Built Ford Tough Series presented by Wrangler (BFTS) invaded Oakland, Calif. Fans were treated to stop number 29 on the elite tour as the world’s best bull riders competed to earn a spot at the upcoming 2008 PBR Built Ford Tough World Finals presented by Wrangler. In the end, number one bull rider in the world Guilherme Marchi (Leme, SP, Brazil) emerged victorious after totaling 265 points on three bulls, taking home a check worth $44,010.

“This has been a good week for me. I needed to come into this event and win. I feel great and I’m ready for every bull and the World Finals,” Marchi said. “I try to win at each and every event. I am the number one bull rider in the world and I had one of the best bulls (Copperhead Slinger) in the short go. If you can ride him, you can win anywhere.”

On his way to the Out of the Chute Invitational winner’s circle, Marchi was one of only three men to ride all three of his bulls. In round one, he took on the bull, Red Wolf (Red Knection K Bulls) for 85.75 and added another 88.25 points in round two after taming Black Dancer of Western Rodeos, Inc. Marchi went into the Built Ford Tough Championship Round in the number one position and got on number three ranked bull in the world, Copperhead Slinger, owned by Chad Berger/Clay Struve. He rode him to one of the highest scores of the event, 91 points, and wrapped up his fifth event win of the 2008 season. This is the third time in 2008 that Marchi and Copperhead Slinger have gone head to head and the third time that he has defeated the prize bull. This is also the second time in 2008 that the two have teamed up and Marchi has gone on to win the event.

Taking second place in Oakland was Valdiron de Oliveira (Aparecida de Goiania, GO, Brazil) who scored a total of 261.75 points on three bulls and added $16,652 to his pocketbook. The number two man in the world rode the bull, Team Equine’s High Roll (Kelly Bowcutt), in round one for 84 points and then took on Chad Berger/Clay Struve’s bull, Fully Loaded for another 86.75 points. In the short go, de Oliveira got on Bad Blood of Chad Berger/Clay Struve, and rode him to an event high score of 91 points.

Third place went to 2007 World Finals Event winner Wiley Petersen (Fort Hall, Idaho) who scored a total of 260.25 points, including a 90.25 point ride on top bull, White Magic (Diamond G Rodeos, Inc.) and took home a check worth $9,670. Fourth place went to Robson Palermo (Rio Branco, Acre, Brazil) who rode two of three bulls for 177 points and added $6,570 to his 2008 earnings. Rounding out fifth place was Canadian cowboy Vince Northrop (Davidson, SK, Canada) who earned 173.75 points on two bulls and a check for $5,325.

The PBR Bull Team Challenge was once again a thrilling race in Oakland. Twenty-two teams have been formed, each providing $50,000 for the opportunity to win their share of the $1.1 million total competition purse through the 2008 season. The team, 4C’s Bucking Bulls and Training, took first place and the $20,000 check after totaling 218.25 points, beating out second place team, South Point, who ended the event with 216.75 points and a second place check worth $10,000.

BEHIND THE CHUTES:

Enterprise Rent-A-Car “Ride with the Best” Bonus:

As the winner of round two at the Built Ford Tough Shootout, Colby Yates (Fort Worth, Texas) was eligible to compete for the $5,000 Enterprise Rent-A-Car “Ride with the Best” bonus during the first round of competition in Oakland. Yates covered his round one draw, Hummer owned by Cosca/Brown Bucking Bulls and took home the $5,000 check.

Although Bryan Richardson (Dallas, Texas) and Renato Nunes (Buritama, SP, Brazil) split the round one win of the Out of the Chute Invitational, Richardson was eligible to compete for the Enterprise Rent-A-Car “Ride with the Best” due to his higher back judge score. Richardson bucked off the bull, Dog Pile; therefore, the stock contractor, Get A Grip Bucking Bulls, was awarded the $5,000 bonus.

As the winner of round two of the Out of the Chute Invitational, Zack Brown (Santa Fe, Texas) will be eligible for the bonus during the first round of competition at the U.S. Air Force Invitational presented by Cooper Tires in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Ford Truck Moment of Truth Bonus:

Guilherme Marchi (Leme, SP, Brazil) was in the lead going into the Built Ford Tough Championship Round and ultimately won the Out of the Chute Invitational event title. Not only did Marchi claim the win, he also collected the $15,000 Ford Truck Moment of Truth bonus. The bonus will be $5,000 at the U.S. Air Force Invitational presented by Cooper Tires in Cincinnati, Ohio on October 3-4. The bonus grows by $5,000 each week if it is not claimed. Once claimed, it returns to $5,000.

Ford Super Duty Challenge:

As the Out Of the Chute Invitational event winner, Guilherme Marchi (Leme, SP, Brazil) has qualified for a chance to compete at the PBR Built Ford Tough World Finals, against all other 2008 Built Ford Tough Series event winners, for $50,000 toward the purchase of a 2009 Ford Super Duty Truck. The Ford Super Duty Challenge contestant who finishes the highest in the event aggregate during the 2008 PBR Built Ford Tough World Finals will win the Ford Super Duty Challenge.

Salem NationaLease Bull of the Event:

Naccarato Bucking Bulls’ top bull, All In, earned Bull of the Event honors with a score of 46 points in Oakland. This honor is acknowledged by an award of $1,250 going to the top bull of each event as determined by the PBR judges’ bull score.

Cabela’s World’s Foremost Ride:

Valdiron de Oliveira (Aparecida de Goiania, GO, Brazil) recorded the highest marked ride of the event when he spurred Chad Berger/Clay Struve’s bull, Bad Blood, for 91 points during the Built Ford Tough Championship Round of the Out of the Chute Invitational. Consequently, he earned a $1,000 bonus.

The rider who achieves the highest score at each BFTS regular season event, excluding the PBR World Finals receives a bonus of $1,000 for the accomplishment. The PBR athlete who achieves the highest marked qualifying ride during the entire 2008 BFTS regular season, excluding the PBR World Finals event will receive $25,000, while second and third place finishers will be awarded $10,000 and $5,000, respectively.
