PBR New Mexico Round 2

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (March 28, 2009) - The top 40 bull riders invaded University of New Mexico’s “The Pit,” for the second of three performances in Albuquerque, N.M. The Sandia Resort & Casino presents the Ty Murray Invitational, stop #16 on the prestigious Built Ford Tough Series (BFTS) tour, showcased the world’s best as they took on the toughest bulls the PBR had to offer in front of a sold-out Saturday night crowd. At the end of round two, reigning World Champion Guilherme Marchi (Leme, SP, Brazil) found himself at the top of the leader board after scoring 90 points on the bull, Super Duty, owned by D&H Cattle Company.

Second place went to Albuquerque’s round one winner, Brian Canter, who took on Circle T Ranch & Rodeo’s bull, Ft. Worth, for 89.75 points. Two-time PBR World Champion Chris Shivers (Jonesville, La.) finished third after riding the bull, Big Coyote of Jeff Robinson Bucking Bulls, for 89.5 points while two bull riders split fourth and fifth place. Georgia cowboy Sean Willingham (Summerville, Ga.) rode the bull, Big Iron, owned by Diamond S Bucking Bulls, and Michael Manes (Conway Ark.) took on Circle T Ranch & Rodeo’s Frosty. Each scored 88.75 points.

Due to his round one win at the Ty Murray Invitational, Team Enterprise rider Brian Canter (Randleman, N.C.) was eligible to compete for the $5,000 Enterprise Rent-A-Car “Ride with the Best” bonus during round two. Because of his qualified ride on the bull, Ft. Worth, owned by Circle T Ranch & Rodeo, he was awarded the $5,000 bonus. As the winner of round two, 2008 PBR World Champion Guilherme Marchi (Leme, SP, Brazil) will be eligible for the $5,000 bonus during round three of the competition.

The Ty Murray Invitational concludes tomorrow as the world’s best bull riders compete in round three and the Built Ford Tough Championship Round to decide who will take home the coveted event title. Tune-in to VERSUS on Sunday, March 29 at 8 p.m. EST to catch all the non-stop action.
