
NAMPA, Idaho (April 4, 2009) - The Professional Bull Riders’ (PBR) Built Ford Tough Series (BFTS) continued to thrill the Idaho Center crowd for the second of three performances at the Nampa Invitational. Kody Lostroh (Longmont, Colo.), ranked number one in world standings, made the right choice at Saturday morning’s draft and picked SoulJa Boy, owned by Priest Creek Ranch, who he spurred for 92.5 points for the second round win. He was followed closely by J.B. Mauney (Moorseville, NC) in second place with a 90 point ride on Diamond G Rodeo’s White Magic.
Third place money went to Brazilian Valdiron de Oliveira (Aparecida de Goiania, GO, Brazil) who rode the bull Why Not Minot owned by Chad Berger/Roger Ward. PBR superstar Brain Canter (Randleman, N.C) took fourth place riding Red Knection K Bull’s Nasty Town. Completing the top five with a tie for fifth and sixth were 2008 PBR World Campion Guilherme Marchi (Leme, SP, Brazil) and Dusty LaBeth (Louisburg, Kan.) for 88.25 points. Marchi rode the bull Flashover owned by Ty Rinaldo TZ Bucking Bulls and LaBeth rode Chad Bergers/Clay Struve’s Bad Action.
The round two victory put Lostroh on top of the leader board in the aggregate with 180 points. Brazilian, de Oliveira is second in average with 175.5 points.
Due to his round one win at the Nampa Invitational, Zack Brown (Santa Fe, Texas) was eligible to compete for the $5,000 Enterprise Rent-A-Car “Ride with the Best” bonus during round two. Because he was bucked off before the eight seconds Walton & Wagoner Bucking Bulls was awarded the $5,000 bonus for their bull Carolina Cat. As the winner of round two, Kody Lostroh (Longmont, Colo) will be eligible for the $5,000 bonus during round three of the competition.
The Nampa Invitational concludes tomorrow as the world’s best bull riders compete in round three and the Built Ford Tough Championship Round to decide who will take home the coveted event title. Tune-in to VERSUS on Sunday, April 5 at 7 p.m. EST to catch all the non-stop action.
Injury Report:
Ross Coleman (Molalla, Or.) suffered a sprained right hand and will not be competing in round three of the Nampa Invitational.
Travis Briscoe (Edgewood, NM) injured his neck and is probable for tomorrow.
