The Brazilians clean house at The Baltimore Invitational

Baltimore Invitational Winner

Baltimore, MD (January 3, 2010) - Professional Bull Riders, Inc. (PBR) started 2010 with a bang in Baltimore and it was Brazilian Valdiron de Oliveira (Aparecida de Goiania, GO, Brazil) who went home with the big bucks and the event win.

Oliveira made the event winning ride on Teague Bucking Bulls, LLC’s bull Uncle Buck. The 89.25 point ride secured his position at the top of the leaderboard and he walked away $27,515 richer.

“Valdiron started out really good this year,” said Guilherme Marchi (Leme, SP, Brazil) about his fellow countryman. “He’s riding good and is going to have a great 2010 season.”

Marchi came in a close second to Oliveira overall. Marchi’s final ride on Major Payne (Robinson/Katich/Pinnacle Bull Group) for 89 points solidified his second place finish in the event and his continued first place ranking in the overall 2010 Built Ford Tough Standings. “2010 is going to be a good year,” continued Marchi about the Brazilian’s success this weekend.

Coming in third was Oklahoma cowboy Ryan McConnel (Colgate, Okla.) closing out the Baltimore Invitational with the highest scored ride of the weekend: 91.5 points on Big Tex (Dakota Rodeo/Chad Berger/Clay Struve). McConnel walked away with the Round 3 win earning him $2,730. He is currently third in the overall 2010 Built Ford Tough Series.

The Brazilians rounded out the top five in Baltimore as Robson Palermo (Rio Branco, Acre, Brazil) rode Tahonta’s Shadow (Jeff Robinson Bucking Bulls) in Round 3 for 89.75 points and Renato Nunes (Buritama, SP, Brazil) stayed on Dakota Rodeo/Chad Berger/Clay Struve’s bull Yellow Jacket, Jr. for 89.75 points. Palermo sits at fourth, Nunes at fifth in the overall 2010 BFTS standings.

Kody Lostroh (Longmont, Colo.), after elbow surgery only two months ago, had a strong showing in Baltimore and proved why he was the 2009 World Champion. Lostroh rode two out of three bulls for the weekend; 88.25 points on Teague Bucking Bulls, LLC’s bull White Trash earned him the second round winner.

The Built Ford Tough Series heads to the Big Apple next weekend for the fifth year in a row, as it takes over Madison Square Garden January 8-10, 2010. Go to www.pbr.com for more information about New York City Invitational and all upcoming events.
