Round 1 Anaheim Action

ANAHEIM, Calif. (February 20, 2009) - The 2009 Anaheim Invitational brought the best bull riders in the world to Anaheim’s Honda Center for stop #10 on the elite Built Ford Tough Series (BFTS). Texas bull rider Bryan Richardson (Dallas, Texas) took first place after scoring 89.75 points while taking on the bull, Wrangler Big Rig (Jeff Robinson/Broken N-N/C&D Bulls/SkyHawk Rugs). He collected a check for $2,730.

Colorado superstar Kody Lostroh (Longmont, Colo.) took second place in the round after riding Encore, owned by Jeff Robinson/Anchor Bull Company, for 87.75 points. Third place went to Matt Bohon (Cole Camp, Mo.) after he took on the bull, Water Moccasin (Julio Moreno Bucking Bulls) for 87.5 points while fourth place went to Valdiron de Oliveira (Aparecida de Goiania, GO, Brazil) who rode the bull, Rocket, owned by Corey & Horst/The Western Group) for 87.25 points. Rounding out fifth place was North Carolina’s Brian Canter (Randleman, N.C.) who tamed Simpson and Dennis Bucking Bulls’ Devil’s Den for 86.75 points.

Due to his round three win at last weekend’s Express Classic, Ryan Dirteater (Hulbert, Okla.) was eligible to compete for the $5,000 Enterprise Rent-A-Car “Ride with the Best” bonus during round one of the Anaheim Invitational. Because he did not make the eight second whistle on the bull, Charmed I’m Sure, the stock contractor, Diamond G Rodeos, Inc., took home the $5,000 bonus.

The Anaheim Invitational continues tomorrow as the top 40 bull riders in the world compete to see who will take home the coveted event title. Catch all of the action when VERSUS’ airs round two and the Built Ford Tough Championship Round LIVE at 9 p.m. EST.
