California was the site of events three and four on the PBR tour. The first one was in Fresno, a one-day affair. The Table Mountain Casino Invitational is going to have to be renamed The Enterprise Event, as riders sponsored by Enterprise were first, second and third.

Kody Lostroh found himself on top in both rounds. In round one he was 88.75 on Priest Creek Ranches Little Bighorn. Renato Nunes rode Benedict to an 88.25 score to be second. Get A Grip Bucking Bulls owns Benedict. Third was Robson Palermo, who was an even 88 on Wasted Days, a bull owned by Flying Rafter Z Rodeo Company, LLC. Zack Brown grabbed fourth on another Priest Creek bull, Mr. Deeds. He scored an 87. Fifth and sixth was shared by J.B. Mauney and Brendon Clark with scores of 86.75. Mauney rode Big Rig, a Flying Rafter Z Rodeo Company, LLC bull, and Clark covered Okie Dokie, owned by Corey and Horst Rodeo Company, Inc.
The Championship Round was a great one. As will be the case all season, the riders pick their short-go bull. Lostroh, being in the lead, had the pick of the litter, and he wanted Troubadour. He had ridden that bull before to a great score, and felt he could do it again. Boy, did he! After eight seconds, the duo found themselves with a 94.50 score. Two of the judges gave Kody a huge 24.50 rider score out of the possible 25. Julio Moreno Bucking Bulls claims this sensational bull.
To prove that Moreno Bucking Bulls is not a one trick pony, Matt Bohon was second with a 92.50 after selecting another great Moreno bull, Charlie Bullware. It is also noteworthy to mention that this is the first time that Charlie Bullware has been ridden, and Bohon really needed that boost of confidence.
Nunes was also a part of that 90-point club. He got a 91 on Little Bo, owned by 4C’s/James Sills to claim third. Fourth was Shane Proctor on War Zone, owned by Corey and Horst Rodeo Company, Inc. Proctor was given a score of 89.25. There was a tie for fifth and sixth between Ross Coleman and Clark. Both men had scores of 88.50 Coleman rode the Corey & Horst/The Western Group bull, North Star, and Clark was successful with SoulJa Boy, owned by Priest Creek Ranches.
It is pretty amazing that Clark can ride at all. He has a badly torn groin, and two months of rest did not heal it up. For those of you who have had that injury, you know how much that hurts, and if you haven’t, I can’t describe it to you. Suffice it to say that he is one tough cowboy.
The Salem NationaLease Bull of the Event was All In, owned by Naccarato Bucking Bulls. All In was given a bull score of 46.25.
The overall event standings had Lostroh on top, with Nunes second, Bohon third, Proctor fourth, and Clark fifth.
The Built Ford Tough World Standings see it Lostroh, Mauney, Proctor, Guilherme Marchi, Palermo, Cody Campbell, Nunes, Valdiron de Oliveira, Wiley Petersen, and Kasey Hayes rounds out the top ten.
Chris Shivers came back, complete with helmet. His reasoning was very simple – he keeps missing events while healing up from a broken eye socket, nose, and the like. He doesn’t want to miss more events when these injuries could most likely be avoided.
Unfortunately for his good friend Mike White, he got hit in the face and sustained a laceration to his chin and a possible jaw fracture. He is questionable for Sacramento. Shivers would like White to wear a helmet as well, but did say that he doubted that Mike would follow suit, at least not at this time.
On to Sacramento!
