ST. LOUIS, Mo. (February 27, 2009) - On stop #12 on the prestigious Built Ford Tough Series (BFTS), the Professional Bull Riders, Inc. (PBR) headed to Missouri for the first of two back-to-back stops in The Show-Me State. St. Louis’ Scottrade Center played host to the top 40 bull riders in the world as they took on the toughest bulls in the industry during round one of the 2009 Enterprise Rent-A-Car Invitational. In the end, number one bull rider in the world J.B. Mauney (Mooresville, N.C.) took the round one victory after riding the bull, Ft. Worth, owned by Circle T Ranch & Rodeo, for 88.75 points.
PBR rookie Jimmy Tubbs (Greenbrier, Ark.) took second place after scoring 88 points on Circle T Ranch & Rodeo’s bull, Outa Da Blue. Third place went to Kansas bull rider Skeeter Kingsolver (Mclouth, Kan.) who rode the bull, Montego Bay (Chad Berger/Clay Struve/Julie Rosen) for 87 points while PBR fan favorite Wiley Petersen (Fort Hall, Idaho) took on Smokey, owned by Robinson/Broken N-N/Jeffrey Scott/Larry the Cable Guy/Gary Blythe, for 86.5 points.
Due to his round one win at last weekend’s Glendale Invitational in Glendale, Ariz., Cody Ford (Stanfield, Ore.) was eligible to compete for the $5,000 Enterprise Rent-A-Car “Ride with the Best” bonus during round one of the Enterprise Rent-A-Car Invitational. Ford did not make the whistle on the bull, Sleepy Cat; therefore, the stock contractor, David Day, took home the $5,000 bonus.
Tomorrow the top 40 bull riders will draft their round two bull at the Sheraton St. Louis City Center Hotel. Round winner Mauney will pick first while the other 39 bull riders follow in succession based on their round one scores. After all of the riders who received scores have selected their bulls, the riders will select their bulls based on their buck-off times with the quickest buck-off time picking last.
The Enterprise Rent-A-Car Invitational continues on Saturday, February 28 as the world’s best bull riders compete to see who will take home the coveted St. Louis event title. Catch all of the action when round two airs LIVE on VERSUS at 8 p.m. EST and don’t miss the exciting conclusion when VERSUS airs round three and the Built Ford Tough Championship Round on Sunday, February 15 at 8 p.m. EST.
