Anaheim, Calif. (January 23, 2010) - The 2010 Tecate Light Invitational in Anaheim, stop #5 on the 2010 Built Ford Tough Series, is off to a good start, even with the torrential rain storms outside of the arena! New Mexico bull rider Travis Briscoe (Edgewood, N.M.) walked away with first place after a stellar ride on Hawaiian Ivory (Flying U/Cindy Rosser Bucking Bulls) and the highest score of the night: 90.5 points. Briscoe, who is currently ranked 2nd in the overall BFTS World Standings, behind only J.B Mauney (Mooresville, N.C.), took home a cool $7,000 for tonight’s performance.

Second place in the round went to Australian Brendon Clark (Morpeth, AU). Clark stayed on Cooper, owned by Dakota Rodeo/Chad Berger/Clay Struve, for 89.25 points and $5,000. Brian Canter (Randleman, N.C.) found himself in third place, after riding Jeff Robinson/Priest Creek Ranch’s bull, SoulJa Boy, with a score of 89 points and a $3,000 prize.

Reigning World Champion Kody Lostroh (Longmont, Colo.) and Canadian cowboy Aaron Roy (Asquith, SK) tied for fourth and fifth place in the round. Lostroh rode his first bull since Baltimore a few weeks ago, staying on Facial Fear (Don Kish Bucking Bulls) for 88 points. Roy stayed on D&H Cattle Company’s Show Time for an 88 point score. Both fourth and fifth place took home $1,600 for the round.

The Tecate Light Invitational continues tomorrow, promising another action-packed round as the top 40 bull riders in the world compete to see who will take home the coveted event title. Don’t miss all of the Round 1 action when it airs on VERSUS tomorrow, Saturday, January 23, 2010, at 9:00pm ET. Check your local listings for more details.
