ST. LOUIS (February 28, 2010) - In yesterday’s draft round, I thought there were a lot of good matchups and that we might see 15-20 bulls ridden. They rode 17. I also thought it would take 90 points or close to it to win the round, because Kody Lostroh had a bull he should have gotten to the whistle on. He didn’t. He didn’t draw as well in Round 3, but so many others did draw into favorable matchups, I think we will see 19-22 bulls get ridden today, and several guys have a chance to score big.

I may not have room to cover them all, but we will hit the high spots in Round 3.

Round 3 Matchups:

Elliott Jacoby on 423 Pearl Snap:
A dream bull for anyone here, who always brings a high score. Jacoby hasn’t been on him before, but he should be able to get to the whistle tonight.

Ryan McConnel on 100 Soulja Boy:
Another bull that lots of guys were hoping for in this round. McConnel had a big ride last night, and he should have a bigger one here. This should be the ride that guys are trying to beat. Soulja Boy got Robson Palermo in Round 1, but he is ridden more often than not. If you’ve ever watched the NFL, you hear them refer to some players as “tweeners.” These are guys whose size and speed sort of puts them between the ideals for two different positions. Soulja Boy is a tweener bull. He has short-round speed, but his size and great rhythm really kind of force him into the long round.

Sean Willingham on 73 Flashpoint:
This is the bull that Jody Newberry won second on in last night’s round. He should be an equally good fit for Willingham, who has an excellent chance to get three bulls ridden.

L.J. Jenkins on 432 RMEF Elk Country:
Jenkins is also good on two bulls coming in here, and RMEF Elk Country is a lot like Clam Digger last night. He doesn’t have much chance of getting L.J. on the ground.

Beau Hill on K47 Nasty Town:
Nasty Town carried McKennon Wimberly to the win in Round 2, and he’s capable of doing it two nights in a row.

Valdiron de Oliveira on D13 Ricky Bobby:
There are a lot of guys out tonight who are favored to ride their bulls, and Oliveira is not one of them. Ricky Bobby doesn’t let many guys get there. He is another “tweener” kind of bull that is always either in the bottom half of the short-go pen, or the best bull in a long round. The reason for mentioning Oliveira here is that he is the best rider in the PBR by some measures, and he arguably has the best bull in this round.

Guilherme Marchi on 6 Backyard Big Rig:
Every time I pick someone who has this great little bull, they seem to fall off. I hope that Marchi can come through here.

Cody Nance on 522 Legacy:
Nance hasn’t had much luck here this week, but this bull should be one he can get a score on.

Renato Nunes on 42 Bird Creek:
Here’s a bull that is basically never ridden by right-handed riders, and pretty much always ridden by left-handers. I haven’t really seen the bull, but those kind of numbers usually mean a bull that goes to the left with a lot of speed or has a roll to the right somewhere. Or it could be a fluke, but Nunes should ride here.

Skeeter Kingsolver on Larry the Cable Guy’s Smokey:
These two met in New York for 87.25 points.

Bryan Richardson on K55 Smack Down:
I thought Lostroh would win the round on Smack Down last night, and I think Richardson can do it tonight. This is just an excellent draw for Bryan.

Mike Lee on X43 Billionaire:
Mike has two scores here, and his third one won’t be easy to get, but could place him at the top of the round.
