PBR Veteran wins Des Moines!

Des Moines, Iowa (May 2, 2010) - The Professional Bull Riders closed out the weekend at the Des Moines Invitational presented by Midwest Ford Dealers, with PBR veteran and former World Champion Mike Lee (Decatur, Texas) taking home the event win.

Lee, who also won Round 1 on Friday evening, had a solid ride on Chick’N Fried (Dakota Rodeo/Chad Berger/Clay Struve) for 89.75 points and a second place finish in Round 2. He also received 88.25 points for his ride on Sooner Shaker (D&H Cattle Company), giving him a fifth place finish in the Built Ford Tough Championship Round. Lee took home $45,713 for the event win, which includes the $15,000 Ford Moment of Truth Bonus.

Finishing second in Des Moines was Missouri cowboy Matt Bohon (Cole Camp, Mo.). He stayed on Buffalo Hide (Circle T Ranch & Rodeo) for 84 points in Round Two and Bad Moon (Circle T Ranch & Rodeo) for 88.5 points in the Championship Round. Bohon took home $14,157 in winnings for the weekend. Third place in the event went to Austin Meier (Kinta, Okla.), who moved to second place in the PBR World Standings after the event. Meier rode Stretch Armstrong (D&H Cattle Company/Crazy G&E Bulls) in Round Two for 84 points and MoeBandy.com (D&H Cattle Co./Moe Band) for 90.5 points in the Championship Round, taking home $10,515 for his efforts.

Aaron Pass (Hilsboro, Texas), one of the five regional riders selected to compete this weekend, finished the event in fourth place. Pass stayed on Live Wire (Dakota Rodeo/Chad Berger/Clay Struve) in Round Two for 84 points and Commotion (D&H Cattle Co/Tom Luthy) in the Championship Round for 87.25 points. Pass leaves Des Moines with $7,379 added to his bank account.

Rounding out the top five was Skeeter Kingsolver (Mclouth, Kans.). Kingsolver secured his spot in the top five for the weekend after riding Rodeo Joe (D&H Cattle Company) for 86.75 points in Round Two, then gave everyone a show in the Championship Round with a 91.25 point ride on Super Duty (D&H Cattle Company/Linda Hance). Kingsolver walked away $5,777 richer.

Mike Lee (Decatur, Texas) was in the lead going into the Built Ford Tough Championship Round and won the Des Moines Invitational; therefore, he collected the $15,000 bonus. The bonus will return to $5,000 in Wichita on May 7-8. The bonus grows by $5,000 each week if it is not claimed. Once claimed, it returns to $5,000.
