Oklahoma City PBR Winner!

2002 PBR World Champion and Team Express rider Ednei Caminhas takes his first BFTS win since 2004.

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (February 15, 2009) - The Professional Bull Riders, Inc. (PBR) took the top 40 bull riders in the world to the Sooner State for three performances of non-stop action on February 13-15. At stop #9 on the prestigious Built Ford Tough Series (BFTS), 2002 PBR World Champion and Team Express rider Ednei Caminhas (P. Alves, SP, Brazil) left Oklahoma City’s Ford Center victorious after totaling 346 points on four bulls and took home the coveted Express Classic event title, pocketing a check for $27,742.50. With this victory, Caminhas picked up his first BFTS event win since 2004 when he won the Colorado Springs event title.

“I have a new confidence now and I am the champ with the win,” Caminhas commented from the winner’s circle. “I want to thank God for this win and I am very happy to do this in front of all my sponsors. I needed to win this event and I think I am now safe from the upcoming cut.”

In round one, Caminhas scored 86.75 points on Braithwaite & Dansey’s bull, Wrangler’s Rock Star. He followed that up with an 84.25 point ride on the bull, Balboa, owned by 4C’s/Sills/Barker/Hill, during round two. Caminhas finished fourth place in round three after scoring 88.25 points on the bull, Cooper Tires (Chad Berger/Denny Hawks), giving him a total of 259.25 points. For the Built Ford Tough Championship Round, he chose to ride the bull, Bob, owned by Silverado Rodeo Company, during the PBR Bull Draft held at intermission. He tamed the bull for 86.75 points, leaving him in third place in the round, but first place in the average. Caminhas totaled 346 points on four bulls and was one of only two men to ride every one of his bulls over the three-day event.

U.S. Border Patrol rider Luke Snyder (Raymore, Mo.) finished second overall after becoming only the second man to cover all four of his bulls. He scored 344.5 points and added $15,242.50 to his 2009 World Standings. Taking third place was “The Cherokee Kid” and home state bull rider Ryan Dirteater (Hulbert, Okla.) who totaled 269.75 points and received a check for $22,570 while Brazilian superstar Renato Nunes (Buritama, SP, Brazil) finished fourth with 266.75 points and $10,120. Rounding out fifth place was “Mighty” Mike White (De Kalb, Texas) who left Oklahoma with a total of 263 points and walked away with a check for $6,418.

The 2009 PBR Bull Team Competition kicked-off in Oklahoma City. Fourteen teams have been formed, each competing for their share of a total tour purse of over $500,000 throughout the 2009 season. The team, Teague Bucking Bulls, took first place and the $10,000 check after totaling 134.5 points, beating out second place team, Boyd/Floyd Bull Co.com, who ended the event with 133.5 points and a second place check worth $5,000.

The race for PBR’s million dollar world title takes the prestigious BFTS tour to The Golden State of California for stop #10. The top 40 bull riders in the world will invade Anaheim’s Honda Center on Friday and Saturday night and then head to Glendale, Arizona’s Jobing.com Arena on Sunday for stop #11. This is the final weekend of back-to-back stops for the world’s best bull riders. The VERSUS network airs PBR events every Saturday and Sunday evening.
