PBR Nampa Invitational

PUEBLO, Colo. (April 4, 2009) - The Professional Bull Riders, Inc. (PBR) heated up Nampa's Idaho Center as fans eagerly welcomed back the superstars of the PBR's elite Built Ford Tough Series (BFTS). The much anticipated Nampa Invitational got underway tonight and thrilled fans with exciding bull riding action. Back on top of the leader board was Texas superstar Zack Brown (Santa Fe, Texas) who scored 89.25 points aboard the bull, Big Coyote, owned by Jeff Robinson Bucking Bulls. He added $7,000 to his bank account.

Second place went to Canadian Aaron Roy (Asquith, SK, Canada) who scored 88.25 points after riding the bull, Wrangler Big Rig of Jeff Robinson/Broken N-N/C&D Bulls/SkyHawk Rugs. Current no. 1 bull rider in the world Kody Lostroh (Longmont, Colo.) took third place on the bull, Mean Machine of Chad Berger/Clay Struve/Julie Rosen, for 87.5 points. Splitting fourth and fifth place after scoring 86.5 points each was 2008 PBR World Champion Guilherme Marchi (Leme, SP, Brazil) aboard the bull, Bad Medicine of Chad Berger/Clay Struve/Berger Bucking Bulls while Valdiron de Oliveira (Aparecida de Goiania, GO, Brazil) rode Little Bighorn, owned by Priest Creek Ranch.

Due to his round three win at last weekend’s Ty Murray Invitational, Valdiron de Oliveira (Aparecida de Goiania, GO, Brazil) was eligible to compete for the $5,000 Enterprise Rent-A-Car “Ride with the Best” bonus during round one of the Nampa Invitational. Because of his qualified ride on the bull, Little Big Horn, owned by Priest Creek Ranch, de Oliveira was awarded the $5,000 bonus. As the winner of round one, Zack Brown will be eligible for the $5,000 bonus during round two of the competition.

Tomorrow the top 40 bull riders will draft their round two bulls at the Idaho Center at 11 a.m. Round winner Brown (Santa Fe, TX) will pick first while the other 39 bull riders follow in succession based on their round one scores. After all of the riders who received scores have selected their bulls, the riders will select their bulls based on their buck-off times with the quickest buck-off time picking last.

Be sure to visit www.pbr.tv for full event coverage of (untelevised) round one from Nampa next week.

The Nampa Invitational continues tomorrow as the world’s best bull riders compete in round two. Tune-in to VERSUS at 9 p.m. EST on Saturday, April 4 and on Sunday, April 5 at 7 p.m. EST on VERSUS for all of the non-stop action.
