
ONTARIO, Calif. (August 24, 2010) - The Top 40 bull riders in the world will face off against the fiercest bucking bulls on the planet on Saturday and Sunday at Citizens Business Bank Arena for the Bass Pro Shops Shootout presented by Cooper Tires, the 25th of 30 stops on the Professional Bull Riders elite Built Ford Tough Series.
Bull riding begins at 6 p.m. on Saturday and at 2 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets begin at $15 and can be purchased at the Citizens Business Bank Arena box office, online at www.TicketMaster.com or by telephone at (800) 745-3000.
The field in Ontario will include top-ranked Renato Nunes of Buritama, Brazil, and second-ranked Austin Meier of Kinta, Okla., as well as Brendon Clark, who is originally from Morpeth, Australia, but now makes his home in Coalinga, Calif.
J.B. Mauney of Mooresville, N.C., who has climbed from seventh to third in the BFTS standings after back-to-back Top 5 finishes, is also scheduled to compete along with fourth-ranked Valdiron de Oliveira of Aparecida de Goiania, Brazil.
Every rider will compete in Round 1 on Saturday and Round 2 on Sunday. Following Round 2, the 15 riders with the highest combined scores from Rounds 1 and 2 will advance to the Built Ford Tough Championship Round following intermission. The rider with the highest total score after the championship round will be the event winner.
The PBR Fan Zone will be set up from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. on Saturday at the Bass Pro Shop in Rancho Cucamonga. There will be an autograph session from 1-2 p.m. as well as hunting and fishing seminars and family-friendly activities, including stick-bull racing, bull roping and face painting. The PBR merchandise truck and mechanical bulls will be at Boot Barn in Norco from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. on Saturday and riders Meier, de Oliveira, Kasey Hayes and Sevi Torturo are scheduled to sign autographs from 12-1:30 p.m.
The first 24 events of the 2010 BFTS season have produced 17 different winners and there are 11 riders in the Top 20 with an event win. Meier has the most wins with four while Nunes has three and de Oliveira and Silvano Alves of Pilar, Brazil, each have two wins. The standings lead has changed nine times and six different riders have been ranked first. Mauney has been first three different times while Meier and Nunes have each been on top twice.
