EDMONTON, Alberta (July 25, 2008) - The Professional Bull Riders, Inc. (PBR) elite Built Ford Tough Series presented by Wrangler (BFTS) headed north of the border this weekend for its debut in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The 24th stop of the 2008 BFTS season made its way to Rexall Place to thrill Canadian bull riding fans with heart pounding action. 2002 PBR World Champion, Ednei Caminhas (P. Alves, Sao Paulo, Brazil) claimed the top spot in the round when he scored 88.25 points aboard Why Not Minot (Chad Berger/Roger Ward).

Second place in the round was seized by the world’s number one bull rider, Guilherme Marchi (Leme, Sao Paulo, Brazil). Marchi scored 87 points aboard Berger Bucking Bulls’ Little Coyote. Colby Yates (Fort Worth, Texas) held down third place in round one by scoring 86.25 points aboard Franklin Rodeo Company’s Garfield.

Many bull riding fans were looking forward to the Zantrex-3 Insta-Shot Grudge Match featuring two-time PBR World Champion Justin McBride (Elk City, Okla.) and number one man, Marchi. However, during first round action, McBride received a re-ride option for his ride on Battle River Rodeo’s Instigator. He opted to try for a better score but was bucked short of the eight second whistle against Chad Berger/Clay Stuve/Julie Rosen’s Denny Crane. While being thrown, McBride was hit in the face and unable to compete for the bonus.

As the second place rider in Tulsa, Okla. Mike White (De Kalb, Texas) was given the opportunity to compete for the $5,000 bonus in place of McBride. White made a successful ride against Big Stone Rodeo Co.’s 7 Seconds while Marchi was turfed by Braithwaite & Dansey’s Boogie Man. Thus White claimed the $5,000 bonus. The next Zantrex-3 Insta-Shot Grudge Match will take place in Glendale, Ariz. on Friday, August 1 with the winner of the 2008 Montana Tractors Invitational going head to head against a rider of his choice. $5,000 will be up for grabs.

As the winner of the third round in Tulsa, Okla., Ross Coleman (Molalla, Ore.) was eligible to compete for the $5,000 Enterprise Rent-A-Car “Ride with the Best” bonus. Coleman was bucked off of Corey & Horst Rodeo Co. Inc.’s Re-Vamp thus the $5,000 bonus was awarded to the stock contractor. As the winner of round one, Caminhas will be eligible to ride for the bonus on Saturday night.

The Montana Tractors Invitational continues tomorrow as the world’s best bull riders compete in round two and the Built Ford Tough Championship Round to see who will take home the coveted Edmonton event title. Catch all the exciting action from Edmonton when it airs on VERSUS on Saturday, August 2nd at 9:00 p.m. ET and Sunday, August 3rd at 6:00 p.m. ET!!

Injury Report:

Justin McBride (Elk City, Okla.) sustained a concussion and laceration below his bottom lip requiring stitches. He is questionable for competition tomorrow.
