PUEBLO, Colo. (March 17, 2009) - In a classic East vs. West match-up, PBR superstars Kody Lostroh (Longmont, Colo.) and J.B. Mauney (Mooresville, N.C.) will go head-to-head in a rider-vs.-rider competition in Albuquerque, N.M. The match-up will take place on Friday, March 27, during Round 1 of the Sandia Resort & Casino presents the Ty Murray Invitational.
The 2007 PBR World Champion Bull Chicken on a Chain, owned by Robinson/Tedesco/Larry the Cable Guy/Broken N-N, and top animal athlete Voodoo Child, owned by Robinson/Beutler/Broken N-N/Hyland/McNeely/Fletcher/ Jennings, have been selected to participate in the match by PBR Livestock Director Cody Lambert.
Fans will have the opportunity to vote which rider will take on which bull at the Albuquerque event. Voting will begin at 5 p.m. EST on Wednesday, March 18 and will end at 7 p.m. EST on Wednesday, March 25. Please visit www.pbrnow.com, under the “Your Voice” section to cast your vote!
Colorado cowboy Lostroh, currently sitting in the No. 1 position on the 2009 BFTS standings, has five career event wins, including the 2009 Table Mountain Casino Invitational in Fresno, Calif., and the 2009 Anaheim Invitational in Anaheim, Calif. The 2005 PBR Daisy Rookie of the Year has a career riding percentage of just over 50% and has recorded twenty-one 90-point rides in his five-year career. The 23-year-old has finished in the Top 10 in the world for the past three years and became a member of the PBR’s $1 Million Club after winning the Mohegan Sun Invitational in Uncasville, Conn., in October 2008.
PBR superstar and 2006 PBR Daisy Rookie of the Year Mauney is currently sitting No. 2 in the 2009 standings, just a little over 400 points behind Lostroh. He has seven career event wins on his resume, including the 2009 Built Ford Tough Invitational in New York, and the 2009 Copenhagen Bull Riding Invitational presented by Pike Electric in Winston-Salem, N.C. The 22-year-old has finished in the top three in the world the past two years and has recorded a 58% riding percentage along with twenty 90-point rides. He crossed the $1 million mark in career earnings during the 2008 PBR Built Ford Tough World Finals in Las Vegas, becoming the youngest bull rider in PBR history to do so.
