Anaheim, Calif. (January 24, 2010) - The Professional Bull Riders, Inc. (PBR) gave Anaheim the show they deserved during the final two rounds of action at the Tecate Light Invitational on Sunday. 2009 World Champion, Kody Lostroh (Longmont, Colo.) emerged victorious and went home with the coveted event title, after staying on Tower 59 (Dakota Rodeo/Chad Berger/Clay Struve) in the short-go and receiving the highest score of the weekend, 90.5 points, and $2,730. After a rough start to his season, Lostroh seems to be getting back into the swing of things.
“I enjoy the ups and downs of bull riding because it’s always a challenge,” Lostroh said, after having a rough last few weeks on tour. “It’s always a fight to get through.”
This weekend, though, Lostroh is sitting pretty with his first event win of the 2010 BFTS season and has moved up to 11th place and $56,940.65 in the World Standings. This is the second year in a row that Lostroh has won the Anaheim title.
Second place in the short go went to Skeeter Kingsolver (McClouth, Kans.). He rode Hawaiian Ivory, owned by Flying U/Cindy Rosser Bucking Bulls, receiving 88.25 points, putting him just behind Lostroh. Kingsolver’s second place finish in Round 4 awarded him $1,950. Travis Briscoe (Edgewood, N.M.) came in a close third after making the buzzer on Stubby, from D&H Cattle Company, for 88 points and $1,170. Fourth went to Caleb Sanderson (Kissimmee, Fla.) who was in the lead for the event for a few short minutes during the final round. Sanderson stayed on Don Kish Bucking Bulls’ Little Juicy for 87.5 points. Valdiron de Oliviera (Aparecida de Goiania, GO, Brazil) closed out the top five in the Built Ford Tough Championship Round on Necessary Evil (Don Kish Bucking Bulls), bringing in 87.5 points.
Don’t miss out on the action, as the PBR moves south next weekend for the Tampa Invitational. The final two rounds of the Tecate Light Invitational can be seen on NBC next Saturday, January 30th. Check your local listings for more details.
